Currently playing, i would say Gary Speed. Best ever to play in the prem, IMHO would be Peter Beagrie, the man was a legend.

Kellary, could you vote on the poll to show it, so we can get a full representation. I agree, Gary Speed is a legend, but in my opinion, Shearer has to be the best. Thanks

Not really a complete poll is it? No Teddy Sheringham? No Les Ferdinand? I wouldn't vote for either of them, but they're both better than Patrik Berger. How about Roy Keane - better than Ryan Giggs.
But anyway, it's clearly Dennis Bergkamp - the only player to have had 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the same month in MOTD's goal of the month competition. Says it all really. And then there's his goal against Newcastle. I'm sure you know the one I mean. Add to that that he is a football genius.
Shinbreakers

Well there's no Teddy Sheringham because he doesn't play in the Premiership, and no Les Ferdinand because he's fading away into uselessness, great as he was. Roy Keane is a good one, i didn't think of him. Shearer to win!

Good point about Sheringham...
And at least Les Ferdinand was great, unlike Patrik Berger.

Roy Keane, he still runs United's midfield and amde some top-notch tackles in the Newcastle game against properly pacey Bellamy.

Also, I'd like to propose Gianfranco Zola and Paolo DiCanio, but neither count as they're gone, right?

Bergkamp, hands down. The guy is brilliant.

I think it's a close run between shearer and Bergkamp.

HOwever I still choose Shearer. That guy is still scoring goals for fun.

I voted Shearer, but for entertainment, you just can't beat Berkgamp. Also, Okocha has only been in the premiership for a couple of years so don't really know if he should be there.

My apologies about Roy Keane's abscense, and i was having a temporary thinking lapse when a friend suggested Berger, so that's why he's in. I might open another poll in the future with the greatest players to have ever graced the Premiership, thus including the likes of Cantona, Zola, Ferdinand etc.

Perhaps I don't understand the parameters of the question. When you say best veteran does that imply a certain threshold of years playing? Thierry Henry has only been playing with Arsenal since 1999, so perhaps he isn't a veteran, but he has to be the most coveted striker in the Premiership playing now. He has consistently been the club's top scorer, is the main reason the Gunners have brought home Premiership and FA hardware, won the Player of the Year awards from the PFA and the Football Writers' Association, and just missed out to Zinedine Zidane in FIFA's World Player of the Year poll.

As a Chelsea fan Henry is the one player I would most want on my team.
Shinbreakers

Veteran meaning old players. Henry is still only 26, criteria is 30 and above.

Okay. In that case I'll go with Newcastle's Angel of the North.

Greatest player ever to grace the Premiership? Now that is a difficult one. Possibly Henry, to be honest. Let's be fair, he's the only player to get into the top 3 of World Player of the Year while playing in the Premiership. Some of his goals are f**king amazing - recently that backheel against Charlton, 1st October 2000, vs Man Utd at Highbury....I'm sure if you need anymore proof you could find it somewhere on the net.
Shinbreakers
17-11-2004, 23:09
Those goals were pretty amazing, but i think Darren Ambrose was hard done by not to win goal of the month, ahead of that backheel, with his blinder against Bolton. Pure genius, if only he could do it regularly...

I think he's probably the catalyst (or one of) to Everton's success. 38 years old and still going DAMN strong. Still possibly one of the best keepers in the premiership.

It was incredibly stupid....but then the last 4 years have been like that....totally mad....

I think we must be considered the biggest bunch of mugs in the transfer market...

we sell Eric Cantana to the Mancs for 1.2 million.....ten years later we buy Lee Sharpe from the Mancs....

We buy Tomas Brolin .... after he broke his foot! DOH!

gah...its too painfull to continue....

(and we flogged Elland Road....its the end...)

Nah, its Ashley Ward (a little but he came through and voted for the getting out of admin, so kudos to him) and Benito Carbone (he mucked us over real good) who screwed us over.

But both clubs are kinda in the same boat, although Leeds have much better marketablilty and are more likely to get investors.

Yeah, i'm far too young to remember it, in fact as it was in 1985 i would have been 2. But your right, it would be a tragedy for us to dissappear, same with Leeds for those poor few in Turkey.
