If you had a child that was openly asexual...

There have been threads about homo-, hetero- an bi-sexuality of your children. Those can suck because of personal beliefs.

But what if your child was asexual? I'd think there's something wrong with them

I´d be happy and open a bottle of champagné. At least none of that right-wing christian nuts will flame me for having a asexual child... ;)

That's called a "monogamous relationship." Those are the people for whom I truly feel sorry. Having lived ( unwillingly! ) in one of those for three years, I can speak from personal experience. :(

It could be worse:
What if your child had no hang-ups whatsoever!
What sort of parent would you be if you didn't give at least one neurosis to your offspring?

Also to Legless (since my pointless thread's been closed :( ): How am I/ When was I Politically Correct? I've never guessed correctly who will win a major election in my life!

Wouldn't bother me. Most children go through that phase. I remember when I first had asexual tendencies. Spent many a long Sunday afternoon locked in the bathroom. Of course, it would depend on how open he/she was about it. I mean, I draw the line at the dinner table...

And at this juncture I would like to point out that the internet is the perfect medium on which to tell people they're wasting time.

that was worth a chuckle, as was the original post...

personally, as long as the child didn't divide on the street or in any other public place, how he chooses to procreate is no ones business...

although all those identical kids running around would quickly get confusing

In case anyone's interested, a serious article on the subject of asexuality (http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99996533) (in the context of humans).

I did. I realised it was probably incorrect, but sometimes I say things incorrectly on purpose.

Erm...I had a bet with a friend of mine that I could make someone say "spoilage" without asking them to first. :D

The curious thing is, despite the NS article, asexual does not mean the same thing as non-sexual. To be asexual is to be totally lacking in gamete producing organs and reproducing by other means. Thus is your child were asexual it would mean they had neither testicles or ovaries but did tend to grow buds every once in a while that developed into full blown humans. If I had a child that did that, I would be very suspicious my wife had been hanging out with little green men.

Asexual as in being able to self reproduce?
Or
Asexual as in lacking the desire to have sex?

The first one would leave me utterly confused, the latter would have me slightly worried as that could be the result of psychological issues.
