The 92nd Canadian Football League Grey Cup will be played November 21 in Ottawa.

Representing the West are the B.C. Lions, who edged out the Saskatchewan Roughriders in overtime, 27-25.

In a shocker the Toronto Argonauts advanced from the East by defeating the favored Montreal Alouettes 26-18.

I don't find the CFL very entertaining. That said it is sad that compared to the worst NFL team, the Grey Cup winner would still get blown out.

After getting crushed by Montreal just two weeks ago (58-20), Toronto came back, knocking out Montreal's QB and finally defeating them in the third consecutive meeting between the two teams in the Eastern Championship. The Argos advance to their 21st Grey Cup.

Toronto and B.C. split this year's games, with each team winning at home.

I think this is the year the Argos bring home their 15th cup.

Toronto Argos - 31
B.C. Lions - 27

The American college football National Champs would get crushed by the worst of the NFL teams each and every year, but that doesn't stop millions of people from watching and supporting college football.

And I can only assume you have never been to a CFL game, because with only 3 downs and a larger field it is a much more wide open exciting game than the NFL brand of football.

B.C. All the way. The only team that could beat B.C. was Montreal and they collapsed at home yesterday. Go Lions!

My mother always told me that if you have nothing constructive to say, you should just shut up. I advise the same thing to you today.

Yes the best college team would get crushed.

I've watched them, but never have been to one. It is not more exciting mainly because of the quality of players and plays. If you just like passes the CFL is for you. I consider myself a purist. You know, smash mouth football. Run the ball hard to open the passing game. Plus I just love a brilliant defensive stand. I still have yet to see a CFL with a dominating, crushing running game, or a defense that can stop the passing of the CFL.

CFL may have a larger field and 3 downs, but it favors the offense, whilst the NFL favors the defense. The CFL is where hacks go who couldn't make it in the big boys league.

BTW why do they get points for downing a kick in the endzone? I thought I saw this when I was watching one of these games.

Advise not taken. Everyone has an opinion, even you and you know what they say about opinions.

You are referring to a rouge. A rouge is scored "(1) when the ball becomes dead in possession of a team in its own goal area or (2) when the ball touches or crosses the deadline, or a side-line-in-goal, and touches the ground, a player, or some object beyond these lines." This encourages the receiving team to bring the ball out, adding to the excitment you feels impinges upon the purity of the game.

I like defense, too. But why denigrate the sport in Canada, just because you prefer the sport in the U.S.? Do you think these "hacks" love the game any less? Or perhaps it is they who are the purists, playing more for the joy of the game than the multimillion dollar contracts that seem to be the chief motivation of U.S. players.

And how does your posts have any relevance to the discussion? Saying you don't like the CFL is all well and good but dissing it for no reasons when we are speculating on the outcome of the Grey Cup is irrelevant, anti-constructive and insulting to those of us who happen to like the passing game, kickoff return for TD and 3 Downs system.

Go watch the NFL and stop bothering us.

I would watch the NFL but MNF doesn't start till 9.

BTW if you were insulted by my posts in this thread, you need some thicker skin.

You know there's such a thing as civility and decency. I shouldn't have to grow a thicker skin if people like you though a little before posting. Besides, I wasn't insulted, I just mentionned that it WAS insulting and not at all pertinent.

I would suggest you read a little about netiquette before going into thread and saying that the subject sucks. If you don't like the CFL, stop reading the thread and stop wasting our time.

Although B.C. had a better record this year, one of their losses came at the hands of the Argos. Also, the Roughriders were only 1:05 from defeating the Lions in the Western Championship and Toronto beat Saskatchewan twice this year.

Both are dome teams and the Cup will be played in an open stadium, so no advantage to either team, although B.C. has a travel disadvantage.

Does anyone know if there is an American network showing the Grey Cup Sunday (I live in Florida)?

True Right, give it a rest will you. I didn't start this as a thread for rudeness and confrontation (there are plenty of those already). You have made it clear that you consider the CFL a league of hacks, therefore those interested in the outcome of the Grey Cup are little more than fans of hacks and a less than pure form of football. Since you are obviously far beyond this silliness why not move on to another thread or start one of your own?

Unless of course you can tell me if the Grey Cup is being shown on any American networks.

No satelite dish. I'll have to find a bar with one (although it easier in Orlando to find a football match from England than a CFL game).

Don't get me started on hockey. I'm afraid the NHL is dead. Hopefully something will rise from its ashes. Maybe a North America/European league?

Americans moving to Canada because of the recent election of Dubya and Co. should start taking an interest in the CFL. Learn the rules now so you fit in.

I was at the game in BC, flew all the way out from Regina and holy shit, it was loud there. Now, personally, I hate the Lions a) because I like every other team from the West b) because they beat Saskatchewan. I wanted to see Antonio Warren eat his words about Kenton Keith being our only good player. Oh, by the way, Toronto will win:

Toronto 24
BC 21

Next year's Grey Cup (which I will be at): Saskatchewan v.s. Montreal.

That's a pretty early prediction. I guess they can go ahead and cancel the season and play two Grey Cups in a row?

I certainly hope not. I just paid for my season tickets for next year. It better have a season. But I don't mind the prediction of Montreal-Saskatchewan.

The sad thing is that the RR should have won the western finals because the second lions TD shoudl have counted. If you watch a replay you'll see that thje guys dropped it and it fell outside of the endzone.

No use crying over spilt milk though. I'll be crying over the fact that I probably wake up Monday with a pass-out football fan on my front lawn.

I said that will be the Grey Cup. There would have to be a season for that.
