What's your political alignment?

The World's Smallest Political Quiz (http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html) is allegedly an unbiased way to show what someone's political alignment is. I believed them because when my government class took it last year most people were liberal, despite the test being found on a libertarian site. But then a couple of questions changed, and so did I. Now I want to see where people here land to see firstly if the test has become biased and secondly see what the trend is on NationStates.

For the record, with this current test I am at (80,80), a pretty strong libertarian.

The quiz placed me at Libertarian, which exactly how I define myself in politics. Yay for the world's smallest political quiz!

It placed me as an economically moderate, socially flaming libertarian. The political compass quiz says I'm equally liberal (very) and leftist. I think of myself as economically moderate, and whether slightly right or slightly left depends on the day. I think this quiz is TOO small, but it confirms basically what I think - I guess today is a "right" day.

I come in as centerist 50% personal 60% economic.
This is about right since I believe people should be able to do pretty much anything they want as long as it does not impact on any other person enjoyment of their life how they want it to a greater extent, as of course of one person does something it will undoubtedly have an effect on someone else somewhere.

However I also believe that people should look after themselves, in New Zealand we have a sever issue with Social welfare, the doll hand out 'hourly' rate is $11.50 per hour, where as Minumum wage is $9.50. Plainly that is stupid as it encourages people to sit around on their arses and collect off the state. Our unemployment stats are also fiddles with to give us an Unemployment rate of 3.9% I think, however this does not include people who are on the doll and are not looking for work, unfortunately if you add all the figures together you get a figure closer to 8-10% unemployment which imo is unacceptable, I dont want to be paying 50% of my earnings to lazy bastards who sit round on their arse not even looking for work.
(for reference this does not include disabled people, I have no problem with them collecting disabilities payments as long as they actually deserve them)

Anyways ... yeah ... that pretty much puts me in the middle.

You can tell that the Nation States General Forum Population is not a normal pop. You typically see mainly centrists in a normal pop, with the left-liberals and right-conservatives tied for second, and in third you see libertarians.

This would be an interesting psych study.

I scored on this one at about the same place as I score on all of them ... centrist. I was at 70% on the Personal Issues, and right at 50% on the Economic Issues.

And now with twenty votes it's time for a quick poll report:

The left-liberals and libertarians are neck-and-neck going into the first turn at 7 votes apiece, but the right-conservatives are trying to squeeze in from behind with 5 votes. The centrists are setting a slow but steady pace with 1 vote, and the statists can't get their horse out of the starting gate.

This has been your 20-vote poll report. More may come later if I feel like it.

Liberal, which is where I'd put myself (generally speaking), but this test is a joke. It only tests how closely your views compare to those of the libertarian party, and is completely biased toward the libertarian point of view. "Let people control their own retirement; privatize Social Security." Why not say, "Fuck old people, they don't need our tax dollars"? I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the Libertarian platform, but the quiz is extremely biased.

Does anyone else think it's arrogant of them to believe that they can determine political alignment with just 10 questions?

Actually, based on results so far I'd say it's not biased to the libertarian point of view. Of course the questions are going to be worded from the perspective of the author, but as you and others have shown, it seems to be an accurate test. If anything, the results of the poll so far would suggest that it's biased towards the left.

Does anyone else think it's arrogant of them to believe that they can determine political alignment with just 10 questions?
It might be arrogant, but if it works why argue? If it doesn't work, that's another question entirely.

That's only because the kind of people that post at NS tend to be the type who hold their political beliefs more strongly than the general population. Your average citizen might look at some of these questions and think, "Well, if you put it that way..." Know what I mean? Their answers might be swayed by the way the question is worded.

Yeah, I get your point. Then again, your average citizen probably won't go to the Libertarian Party's webpage, which is where I picked this up.

Statist, if you feel comfortable revealing yourself, who are you?

It says I'm centrist, BUT I'm close to the liberal/libitarian side.

Your PERSONAL issues Score is 70%.
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 50%.

Makes sense to me, since I'm kind of moderate, but I learn towards personal freedoms a fair bit. But I SERIOUSLY doubt that 10 questions is enough for an accurate reading.
