China is a fascist nation similiar to Italy during Mussolini. Although the party ruling it still calls itself the Communist Party of China, it is no longer a Communist nation and hasn't been since Chairman Mao died.

Here is a good link to a lengthy article explaining China from a communist perspective. http://www.icl-fi.org/ENGLISH/2003/China-814-5.htm

China is not a capitalist country, despite the hype. The core of the economy is still the state sector concentrated in massive special economic zones in the Northeast of China. Although accounting for only about a 1/3 of nonagricultrual output state owned enterpirses (SOEs) dominate the vital sectors of the ecomony such as heavy industry, hi-tech, telecommunications, defense etc and employ the majority of China's urban workers. China's major banks are all state owned and keep unprofitable state owned businesses afloat. It is true the state has allowed many unprofitable SOEs to go under in the 90s but it has also spent massive amounts to finance others. There is a struggle going on however, between pro capiatlists and pro socialist wings of the State, with most of the capitalist elements coming from the South East where most of the capitalist special economic zones are located. Most government officials from areas on the interior which are unlikely to attract foriegn investment are generally pro socialist. Should China go capitalist, it is likely that many of the ruling burecrats would be out of work, and lose their very lucrative perks and hundreds of millions of other Chinese would be out of work and very angry so many are wary of drastic changes. The Chinese call their system "maket-socialism" which is as good a term as any.
