If it were up to me, I would take the billions of dollars sinking into Iraq, and all international policing missions, and use it to rebuild America first. Believe it or not America still has problems too.
First, I would bring the soldiers home and give them the pay they deserve. (Many missles they fire cost more money then several of them combined will ever see.)
Second, I would bring back child care for single parent familys so that single parents have an opportunity to make a reasonably decent living. Government run child care centers worked like a charm in New York City, but when Guiliani was "cleaning up" New York, the funding for cild care got put on the chopping block.
Third, create public works projects that benefit the community. Hoover Dam, Brooklyn Bridge, Triboro bridge, etc. Create work, benefit community. Why some of our projects don't even to be in public use. Programs can build office buildings and then sell them, especially wiht all the development going on in NYC's suburbs.
So, any other ideas? Or any criticisms?
