Why don't the civilians of Afghanistan respond to those leaflets dropped from
planes by doing what it says; "Get Out! We Are Coming!"?

I mean if armed forces came to your town and dropped a bunch of papers
that read, "Hey, we're going to blow up your town!" - wouldn't you leave?

Sure some of us would stay and fight ( I would) but regular people especially
with children should be packing up what they can and getting out of there.

Shouldn't they?

Well, the only people with planes in the area are the US and their allies. What are they doing blowing up villages for and warning them first?


If the village is overrun by Taliban/qaeda then you are warning them and letting them escape. If they aren't then you are just adding to the misery of the people we are supposed to be there to help by adding homelessness to their list of problems. And if it is a mix, then you presupose that a) the villagers can read, and that b) the Taliban (or whoever) will let them just leave.


Anyway you slice it - if this is truly going on then it is a pretty stupid policy.

Those look like the warning leaflets dropped to Iraqi citizens and military at the start of the war. Not anything used in Afghanistan at this point.

Actually, yeah. You're totally right. But at least it's better than bombing civilian areas indiscriminately.

why arent they all staying at the kahbul hilton?? they can have the gardener watch their crops, the butler make sure that their houses arent looted, the groom take care of their animals.

why in the world are they reluctant to leave everything they have worked for their whole lives to become penniless refugees?

in other words, its not an easy decision to abandon your home when you know it means losing everything you have in the world. its a calculated risk to stay and defend your property. they arent stupid, they just have a complicated decision to make.
