Liberal, Moderate or Conservative

Centrist

What would you consider yourself? So far I have seen quite a few liberals and few conservatives. So let's have a poll to see the percentages. If you can't tell from my name, I am a moderate, but usually lean toward the conservative side of things.

BTW, my first post

I am none of the above. I am a libertarian. You see, a person's political alignment doesn't fit on a line that reads "left, center, right." It's actually a diamond. On the left are liberals, on the right are conservatives, at the bottom are statists (people who want a lot more government), and at the top are libertarians (people who want a lot less government). By the way, libertarians aren't on top because we're superior or anything, it's just that's the way it works out if you want the liberals on the left and the conservatives on the right.

I know it's a lot more complicated than left and right. There are economic, social, ect... liberals and conservatives. But I was just asking what you would consider yourself overall. www.politicalcompass.org is also a good test to take to see what you are.

I chose liberal, as that was the closest of the three. I am, more accurately, a liberal/libertarian in practice, and an anarchist in terms of political ideology (essentially a realist anarchist; I know it won't happen in my lifetime, but I can work toward the ideals).

According to your test, I'm in the same general vicinity as the Dalai Lama. Of course, I'm a bit more easily angered than he is, but whatever. This is a political graph, not a psychological one.

BTW, I am abstaining from your poll because I do not believe I am any of the three, or even close to any of the three.

None of the above. I have issues with the 1 dimensional political scale, and I do not believe that it can accurately describe the political leanings of most people. Something I attempted to discuss in this thread. (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=373134)

I've always considered myself a democrat but I'm a centralist apprently.

"CENTRISTS espouse a "middle ground" regarding government
control of the economy and personal behavior. Depending on
the issue, they sometimes favor government intervention
and sometimes support individual freedom of choice.
Centrists pride themselves on keeping an open mind,
tend to oppose "political extremes," and emphasize what
they describe as "practical" solutions to problems."

I'm in the square between Left, Statist, and centralist. So I'm a Left Statist centralist. :)

Your PERSONAL issues Score is 50%.
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 20%.

According to Political Compass I'm:
Economic Left/Right: -4.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.69

Socialist. "liberal" doesn't fit though i'd probably be blindly classified as such.

The US Democrat party is Center Right/Centrist, so that would be correct.

I'm a moderate in most things. The only thing I'm truly one-sided on is gun control. The Compass didn't have any questions on that though.

All of you are wrong! The Politcal Allignment Chart is made up of Spirals coming off Spirals coming off Spirals! It's a massive mess of Polygamy and Incest!

It's not a straight line, it's not a diamond, it's not even a circle. To plot your political allignment accurately, you need to research, read, and listen. You don't just answer a few suryvey questions and have your faith to die by thrown at you. You put time into it to learn which political policies you favor above all others.

Sheesh.

Why is everyone so lazy.

Personally, through my ever-so-intensive politcal insight, I've declared myself a Libertarian.
