Aha. Now that I've lured you here with my philosophically confusing title...
My school is doing an Election Expedition. Which means all the different age groups do different things to do with the election. Anyway, the 4th-6th graders are creating mock political parties and staging an election in which the school gets to vote. Well, the thing is, all their parties suck. Well, that's not the best way to put it. I mean, you can't disagree with what the Evergreens say, for example. Free this, free that, world peace, protect the environment, and stay out of everyone's personal lives. But you can say the same of all of them - and that's because they're all pie in the sky idealism. Some smart mouthed fellow high schooler popped into their little bubble and asked where are you going to get the money to do all these things? The cute kids conferred with each other briefly before answering "Taxes." It's kinda sad, actually. Because the fact is, you have to prioritize. You can't just pay for it with taxes because to get the budget, you'd have to take close to 100% taxes. Then, because noone has any money left, you have to socialize everything. That takes up a chunk of the budget, and you're left without enough for your original goals.
It's really pretty funny. How I wish their parties were viable, but they just forgot that budget is limited.
