Argh, so close to my first ever 4.0 GPA!

Colodia

Well, as some of you may know, this is my freshman year of High School. What better way to kick it off than getting your first 4.0 ever in your life?

I'm 1.2% away from that glory. I have until January to get that 1.2%...

JUST

My rant...or glory...or rant...perhaps glory...

I'm curious. What's GPA stand for? And what's the equivalent of 4.0 in percentage?

Grade Point Average, and 4.0 is 100% (usually roughly 90% up, but it's generally the highest mark).

So it's supposed to be 100% but it's really above 90% in practice. So an average of 93 or so would be a 4.0 average?

I used "Colodia" as an evil dude in one of my more successful stories.

You tried to kill off two of my characters by trapping them in a cage and then you had the cave fall on you. You were a psycho.

It was for creative writing, which I got an A in. Ho!

Yes.

You achieve a 4.0 GPA if you receive all A's in your report card.
The schools do not get technical on report cards (as in, they do not give you A- or A+), so A is a pretty broad grade letter, but is accepted as the highest possible grade you can get.

Thus you receive a 4.0 GPA.

Now...if your in an Advanced Placement class...

You know what sucks? My high school's AP classes weren't weighted. You just got a 4.0. We had 12 people with 4.0s out of 137. 12 valedictorians. That's ridiculous. And a USA Today article from a couple of years ago said 80% of Harvard graduates graduate with honors.

Just make sure to include me as your nemisis or something.

You were one of my cooler character designs though, you had all sorts of weapons...

oh and by the way...

Colodia will return!

You tell me! I did more work in 1 AP class than 5 regular ones, and got the same thing I got for Health and Band.

in my school i have a 4.0 and im not in the top ten% (as of the end of sophmore year). this really bothers me because, at least in texas, any college has to accept someone in the top 10% of their graduating class. (AP classes are weighted for a 5)

Question for those that took Honors classes in their freshman year...

I'm taking 2 out of 3 possible Honors classes (Language Arts Honors, Biology Honors, and regular Geometry), do those classes have a weighted grade as well?

Band SUCKS!!!!! I am like the antichrist of band. I'm a legend!

Colodia, your character started off as a normal guy and it sorta evolved into a comic style superhero story. You will still always be the weapons dude, and Tricia's (Secondary Character) nemisis. You killed her family.

Depends on your school. My high school weighted honors classes until my senior year, at which point "honors" just meant that you weren't an idiot.

AP classes definately deserve to be weighted. I took AP Physics last year (senior high school year) and it was the toughest class of my life. I think maybe only a third of the students passed the class, and maybe a quarter passed the AP test. But hey, I got 8 college credits (about $1,600 worth of credit!) for it, so that's cool.

My brother's going to have so many college credits when he starts. He took (and passed) 4 AP tests last year, and I think he's taking 3 this year. And I don't doubt he'll pass, he works way harder than I do. So he'll probably end up with, at least, 30 credits, before ever starting college. He may very well enter as a college sophmore next year.

I'm assuming you have the experience to actually make a blanket statement like that -- no, wait, the other one. You have next to no experience.

My only AP class (English) gives me a weighted grade. :fluffle: Hooray! I sure as hell need it.

Don't try to defend band, it really isn't worth it. Not even to a band geek. It's so pointless and demanding, I know five people who actually enjoy it and everybody else's parents make em do it! Why is that program sucking up funding?

I've heard AP classes get people into their sophmore year early...

A glance at my schedule..

AVID (A-)
Geometry (A-)
Spanish 1 (A+)
Language Arts 1 Honors (A+)
Biology Honors (B+)
Atheletic (Sports) (A)

Sophmore: (what I plan)
Chemistry Honors
Language Arts 2 Honors
World History Honors
Europeon History AP
Algebra 2
Spanish 2

Junior: (again, what I plan)
Chemistry A.P.
Language Arts 3 Honors
U.S. History A.P.
Pre-Calculus
Spanish 3
Sport

Senior: (do I need to say it?)
Biology A.P. (or Physics A.P.)
Language Arts 4 A.P.
Govt AP/Economy Honors
Calculus
Spanish 4
Sport

My AVID teacher told me to plan for a tough 3 years starting September 2005. I have my current freshman grades easy. So I expect a lot more time to do my work next year without a sport to get me used to the whole A.P. business. Then God knows how I'll live my last 2 years of High School. My best, God willing...

I'm in the big senior slack year. I've been spending my time retaking a math class and sitting in creative writing and drawing.
Next Tri I have three classes in the same art room. Luckily, I get to hang out with Seth McPheeeee! Weee!

I'm in Chicago. It's snowed in Lubbock, where several of my friends are, but it has yet to snow here.
