Operation

I need an operation soon on my ear. I have a problem which means that my eardrum has stuck to the bones right inside the ear. Needless to say, it hurts. So i'll need one operation within 2 weeks to correct that and install an artificial eardrum, and during that time they'll also check if I have an illness which they fear I have which causes skin to grow inside my ear. That'll require either an operation for replacing the bones inside my ear, or a hearing aid for life. I'll take the operation.
I've only ever been under full anaesthetic once, when I was 7. Have any of you ever been under full anaesthetic? What for? What was it like?

I was when I was 13.... I remember being "prepped", and being put under, and I woke up feeling like shit - kinda like a bad hangover - I was so groggy, and nauseous! I remember nothing from while I was out - no dreams or anything. Dunno if that's normal (?), and I'm sure it would affect me differently now, being older, but again, I don't know...

I just had my wisdom teeth pulled (but I'm only 15) so I guess that I qualify.
Let's see, first they gave me this swollow pill thing.... I think that was to calm me down (although I was pretty calm) then they put my in a chair..... Oh, and after they gave me the pill I kind of went into "ok mood" which means that I pretty much agreed with everything they said. (you just sort of say ok...)
They strapped my right arm in a splint and my left arm in one of those blood pressure things. (they said it would go off every 5 minutes....)
They the dentist said "there is going to be a little poke" (he had a shot thing in his hand which I couldn't see) then he stuck it in my arm and that's about all I remember.
Nothing happened in between.
When I woke up I was kind of sleepy. This nurse person asked if I was ready to move to another chair. I just kind of nodded my head because my whole mouth was numb. (don't try to stand up, you won't be able to) She grabed my arm and helped me into this huge compy chair. Then she put a really warm blanket on me. I wanted to go back to sleep. She left for a minute and then she came back and said "try to wake up, ok?" I was trying to figure out how in the world she exspected me to wake up when I was sitting in this comphy chair......
Then we walked over to my parents who were waiting for me. We went home and I sat on the couch and didn't really do anything. I don't remember much of that day, I mostly just slept. I played ROTK for a while on the x-box.
I actually had to go back in to have another sergery to fix a hole from my mouth that went to my sinus..... so I've done this twice in the last few months.
It can take quite a while for you to recover fully. My brain didn't work very well for quite a while.
Oh, and I should warn you about the pain medicine. The stuff they gave me really freaked me out.
I had just taken the pain stuff (the second dose I'd taken after the sergery) and I was standing in the kitchen. All of a sudden I start to feel... really tired. Mom was in the kitchen (thankfully) and she said "maybe you should sit down for a minute..." that was exactly what I was thinking. I took maybe one step and then I just collapsed into a chair that Mom had hastily put under me. Mom said "I think you should go lie down in your bed. No, wait, do you think you can make it there?" I shook my head no. I remember sort of just getting to the couch in the next room, laying down my head and falling asleep.
I have a high pain tolerance, so I wasn't in much pain anyway, but I didn't take that pain stuff again. It put me in an odd and un-nautral sleep that I didn't really like.
I hope this helps without scaring you. If you have any questions post them here and I'll try to check back.

Yeah, I remember from my first operation that I remember that your brain is the first thing to wake up. So I knew I was awake, but I couldn't let anyone else know because I couldn't talk, couldn't open my eyes and couldn't move. It took me about an hour for my body to wake up.

Really? I remember mostly being ok and able to move. I was just a little sluggish. I remember waking up, then opening my eyes and looking around. I was a little confused, but I supposed that's probably exspected.
My mouth was the only thing that I wasn't sure about. It was really numb.
