after thousands of years, the issue is here again. the question that will survive even if only 2 men will stay alive. this is the argument that broke families, start wars, and had more lives than company of cats.
what do you prefer: cats or dogs?

I prefer cats but I do love dogs as well, just not as much

In a survival situation: dogs.

Otherwise: monkeys.

Cats are funny but they can be selfish. Dogs are more loyal and you can bring em along (certain types though) with ya if you're going hunting. I like dogs better. :D

I love both cats and dogs. I think I like cats just a bit more, because you can leave out a large bowl of dry food and a huge bowl of water, and leave for the weekend, and the cat will be just fine, whereas, the dog would eat all the food in one sitting then piss on the carpet, just like my dog does. :D

Cats are great, but Dogs are so much nicer, friendlier, and more loyal!

Depends on the sauces and garnish you use. Some cats go very well with white wine and are an excellent with green vegetables.

Dog is more like your basic beef, so potatoes and beer are a very good choice.

Well, I have nothing against cats, I just like dogs better, especially the cuter ones. My girlfriend has a Wheatin Terrier and it's the friendliest thing you'll ever meet.

I LOVE cats so much! I´ve got one. But dogs are wonderful too, i´ve always dreamt of one. By the way, how have you got the location thete under your name??

this is not the question. the question is why someone start to think on that, when he could eat them and forget this question?

As a famous dutch biologist said: Dogs have masters, Cats have staff.

Cats over dogs any day, when its wolves vs cats the call is a lot closer though.

cat is the perfect animal lazies. you give them food and water once or twice per day, and then back to sleep.
not like dog that want you care for them whole the day

Dumb and Loyal or intellegent and perfidious. hmmm tough one. Besides if you die dogs will guard your body while cats will eat you

Why isn't there an Other option?
In my house, the cats and dogs, (er- & myself. . .) exist for the amusement of the ferrets.
Best pet ever- Ferrets, in my book. Independent but not arrogant. Affectionate but not overly so. Mischevious and smart enough to keep you wondering what they are up to in long moments of silence. . .
Some are even so loyal (I had one) who insists on "defending" you from strangers and newcomers. Fortuantely, they are small enough to cage when needed.

Actually, that quesiton is fairly recent. Neither was used as a "pet", per se, for quite a while. Dogs were also dometicated earlier than cats, excpet perhaps in a few places such as Egypt. But dogs were, by far, more useful for the practical needs of the day.

Cats. Dogs are gross and annoying and infuriatingly clueless.

Cat, dog...it doesn't matter to me provided they can learn to use and flush the toilet.

Cats have much stronger wills. And they're into the sadism. No contest.

better. that way, you can answer the question easily from your life experience.

I like dogs better. Our family has a cat. It is always demanding stuff, and never giving anything back.
At least dogs give stuff back.
Cats always want something, if it's not food then it's water. If it's not water then they want to go out. If they don't want to go out then they want to come in.
Dogs are happy just being with you.

Orangutans are way better than monkeys.
