I'd give up eating. My dreams are way to entertaining to totally give up. Plus, I think I'd get bored after a while with all that time on my hands.

Yeah. So, what percentage of your dreams are nightmares? I know it sounds kind of silly, but it seems to me that the deepest sleepers and the most creative minds tend to have more nightmares than most.

I think sleep, I'd still do it, but it'd be sweet not having to as then I could stay up for as long as I want. I'd fully still do the sleeping thing though.

People who don't sleep have serious psychological problems just the same as those who don't eat. So the question should be which sort of psycho would you prefer to be and you open up a more imaginative debate.

My life wouldn't be worth living if I had to give up either, to be quite honest ;)

if everyone could not eat it would solve the worlds hunger and famine problems and whole lot of other problems

Actually, we don't even need that. We could solve the world's hunger problem simply by going vegetarian.

Yes, that works too. America = greed. But remember, we are primarily a meat-eating society. We grow veggies to feed cows and then eat the cows. If we just eat veggies, more food for everybody.

Hmm.. I kind of got off topic. I'll shut up after this post.

It has got to be not sleeping. Food is fun and think you would have another 6-8 hours a day to do what you liked with.

Ah, but if you give up sleeping, you only get additional time to play games. If you give up eating food, all that money now becomes your "computer game & alcohol fund". You get a little extra time to play 'em too, instead of eating meals. And if you're still not satisfied, you can just refuse to sleep as usual. Giving up sleep is normally a lot easier than giving up snacks.

Hence, the hardcore gamer would give up food.

Then again, Playing games and snacking go hand in hand. munching on a sandwich while hacking in Norrath, blowing away demons while sipping a coke. and even answering posts with a carrot stick in your mouth... you can game while eating... can't while sleeping.

Interesting topic. Those are my two favorite things. While I do love sleeping, eating is the one thing that's consistently good, so I'll have to go with giving up sleeping.

I enjoy both but if I can get away with less sleep, great!

Meh. It's severe discomfort, certainly detrimental to your health and maybe even lethal either way. As I've been doing without sleep for the past few weeks, I guess I may as well choose that. Wouldn't be losing much.

An interesting little fact very relevant to tis topic:

You can go without food longer than you can go without sleep.

It'll take a few weeks to die if you stop eating, but the longest anyone's ever gone without sleeping has been 11 days (I think). And whenever anyone tries to do a sleep deprivation attempt, they invariably have a break down a few weeks later.
Studies on rats showed that rats with a normal life span of 3 years would just die after only 3 weeks witout sleep. Their minds and bodies couldn't cope and would shut down permanently.

So in order of importance for survival:
Air
Water
Sleep
Food
