A Question for My Fellow Americans

This is just a hypothetical question for Americans only....if you were a citizen of another country right at this moment, what would your honest opinion of America and/or it's people be?
If I were to be honest, i would have to say that i would be rather angry at America. We do seem to be the global bully at this time in history.
anyway, I just wanna now what other people's opinions would be.

Depends ... honestly I am the type of person that dosent take anything at face value (note look for my posts ... I tend to not group people or steriotype)
so I probably would be concerned but would try to look into things
But thats me ... appearances are never what they seem

I'm American, and I'm already unhappy with America.
I would be interested in seeing how some of our conservatives respond. Most are so nationalistic that I could not imagine that, were they to live in another country, they wouldn't be angered by America's unilateralism.

It would depend upon which country, and whether I had the good sense not to believe everything I read or saw in the media.

That was a vague answer, explain.
Since there are so few conservatives on here, a rational one's views are very important.

Yeah - I get the feeling tho, that I might be a bit more accepting of America if I lived in a 'Coalition' country; dunno why

I'd be very angry, as I'm assuming that I'd still be fairly nationalistic if I lived in another country, and would therefore be insulted by the arrogance the US has sometimes shown in its diplomacy.

If I lived in a foriegn country I would hope that I would still have the intelledct to realize that what I feel about the U.S. really doesn't matter. Further, I would believe that the U.S. is acting in what it percceives as its own self-interest, which is exactly what I would expect all nations to do. No nation has any sort of obligation to another, outside of a set treaty or deal, and even then said deal would have to be very specific to the situation and have real reasons for it to be in place.
Then again, I wouldn't think any of this if I lived in a foriegn country, because I would most likely be using a foriegn language.

Well considering that Putin admitted his own intelligence officials told him Iraq was planning on conducting terrorists attacks against the US but he still was against the war, I suppose I'd be just as nonsensical :p
Seriously though, I have no knowledge about other countries and I can't imagine I'd care so much about what's going on in some other country.

You sure you're living? Or are you just having an identity crisis? :D
I would urge the rest of the world and the UN to put a trade embargo on america until the Red State Terrorist is driven from power. Do it for the American people. Liberate America

Generally speaking, I'd think that America had, how to put this delicately, gone stark raving mad. This is because Afghanistan is justified, but Iraq most definately wasn't, and when we (speaking as a member of a different country) tried to point this out to them, they did little more than offer up sham inspections, and then go ahead with the war anyway rather than allow the time window to close on their operation, the summer months being far too hot to move an army through the Iraqi desert. Even worse, many of their citizens seem to believe that there actually was no choice in the matter, as Saddam was supporting Muslim terrorists who were, in point of fact, ardently opposed to his administration because he was killing and oppressing the very kind of Muslims these terrorists were.

Actually Hussein is a Sunni and he oppressed the Shiite majority. Al Qaeda operatives are from a more militant section of Sunni (some people say Wahabbi (sp), but some people argue it's a completely different strain).
Also, I'm guessing I'm correct that most Euros ignore the Russian Intelligence reports? :)

Yeah, Putin's government is well known for its honesty.
And I can't imagine what they would gain by recently coming in support of America's war on terror.
Bye Bye Chechnya.
(After the attack on the school, I would venture to say that Chechnya has it coming.)

Ehh, I wouldn't say recently. They've been one of the most staunch supporters since they want to pain Chechens in the same light as Al Qaeda (and maybe they are *shrugs*). It didn't stop Putin from being an opponent of the war. Besides it's not like the US can or will stop Russia from doing whatever they like in Chechnya.

My opinion would be largely the same, but instead of wanting a change for the better, I would probably be hoping America continued to fuck itself over, so that it wouldn't have so much power in the world.

If I wasa citizen of any country?
That makes no sense, why would you be angry if you were an Estonian?
Or from Trinadad?
You would be mad if you from Bermuda?
Guatemala?
You tell me what nation you want me to imagine I am from then I will try to give you an honest answer.

I was under the impression that Al Queda was predominantly Shia.
In any case, Al Queda still didn't want anything to do with Hussein because of the secular nature of his government. Al Queda tends to be fairly militant on the theocracy issue.

It's funny people always say this but at the same time most people accept that the CIA trained and funded OBL (as a part ofthe muhajedin (sp)) to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan. At any rate there's no evidence of any collaborative relationship between the two, but there's also evidence that high level Iraqi Intelligence offficers met on several occasion with senior Al Qaeda members, and that at least one of those officers went to Afghanistan to train AQ personnel in forgery techniques.
Anyway I'll stop derailing the thread. ;)

I actually WAS a citizen of another country (the USSR) before becoming an American. And the opinion of America and her people that I had 15 years ago (when I applied for immigration) has just been confirmed by the election results. I am very proud to be an American and I am very proud that a majority of Americans have displayed excellent judgement (as well as courage and integrity) and reelected George W. Bush (and by the way, I can't help but to consider those who voted for Kerry morally defective).
