I eagerly await Halo2 for years. It's finally coming out and, in anticipation of the huge line that will undoubtedly await me, I arrive at the store at 6:00 PM (Six hours before the game is released for sale). I bring a thick novel and my palm pilot to amuse myself since I fully intend to wait at that store all six hours. Unfortunately, the store has other ideas. Closing at nine, like it always does, and the mall it is in closing with it I am now forced to wait outside for nearly three hours. Pennsylvania in November gets pretty chilly. They finally let those of us who are waiting back into the mall at a little after 11:00 PM so we can wait outside that specific store. Those of us who are waiting outside literally dash to the store entrance in an attempt to be the first in line (I was actually the first!). The store opens at eaxctly 12:00 AM and I walk in and purchase my copy of Halo2 at exactly 12:01 AM, six hours after I have arrived at the mall. I shout for glee after being interviewed for a local newspaper (Yes, they actually did interview me because I was the first in line) and hop in my car to head home to play the game (I swear I must have doubled the speed limit). I get home a little bit before 12:30 AM and put the game in immediately. I play until 8:00 AM at which point I get ready for classes (Okay, I actually meant to get ready for class but really just fell asleep). We get let out of class an hour early so I'm ecstatic and dash back to my room to play. I'm sitting down in front of the TV again by 5:30 PM. By 6:45 PM I've beaten the game.
I waited at the mall for six freaking hours, anticipated the game for years, and I get eight hours of gameplay. What the hell is up with that? Don't get me wrong, the game was awesome. The graphics were great, the weapons were spectacular, and the plot had more loops than a many-looped-thingy. But it was like half a game! It ended right in the middle of the huge titanic battle for the fate of the Galaxy. It'd be like if Star Wars ended just after Han and Luke broke the Princess out of jail, there's a lot more that happens afterwards! I mean seriously, I nearly waited in line for that long!
I know Bungie placed most of the focus on the Multiplayer game and I can appreaciate how hard it was to get the campaign this awesome, but I feel as if I've missed out on something.
