Red State, Blue State 1-2-3

There has been much made of Red states vs. Blue states since the 2000 & now the 2004 election. This has come about because of the electoral votes won by either side. The fact is, beyond the electoral college, it is a fallacy.

Taking a look at the popular vote on a county by county basis the result is much different. No one state is all either but there are varying shades of purple throughout. Look here (http://www.princeton.edu/~rvdb/JAVA/election2004/)

This having been said and shown to you all, anyone who heretofore refers to America, Americans or regions as Red or Blue will be marked as ignorant.

Good post.

Now if only the rest of the world would realize it.

BTW I am going to move to one of those black spots.

But how will people piss and moan and call each other red neck morons and elitist snobs?

You just haven't considered all the reprocussions, have you?

Wow, those maps almost leave me with the perception that the election was fairly even!

Equally irritating is the assertion that the vast majority of the country is red.

You'll have to move this over to DeaconDave's Freudian Theories thread. Sorry.

It was not the landslide some are spinning it to be. When I hear the term "mandate" being spoken as though it is more than a simple (and fairly slight) majority it just reinforces what outright liars the man and his cronies are.

Yeah, I know. Those maps almost leave you with the impression that it was 51%-49%.

Although it was 48/51 what is interesting to note is the dispersal of the vote. It displays the inaccuracy of the geographic polarization that the EC results suggest.

Congratulations, you've proved nothing...the fact still remains that the majority of America voted for Bush. The democratic party will have to make some major changes to regain power. If they continue to drift into the far left, there's no way democrats will ever regain the whitehouse. Oh well, I can't complain.

While you make some valid arguments for reform within the Democratic party you make them in the wrong thread. This one is about the geographic distribution of votes.
