All people are good. sometimes you have to search... with an electron microscope... but all people are good. Even you. :D

I think I'm a likable guy. But you can think of me as you like.

I'm usually a likeable person. The question is: would I dislike YOU? :p

You are perfectly free to dislike me, however I do strongly advise against growing to totally dispise me. It's just a practical matter, the caretaker at the cemetary has stated that he cannot devise a drainage system to handle the number of people who have already expressed the desire to urinate upon my grave.

^No. Barney is the root of all evil purple things.

People are innately evil; but want to be good, and some people's good can be another's evil. Thats why there are so many different opinions; if all of us were good at the core there would be no such arguments.
It also depends on how you define good as well. I haven't murdered anyone, or robbed any banks. I have lied, and cheated, but I don't like that I have done that.

Sorry... Your philosphy is outmoded to the point where it's almost Catholic. You realize you're arguing Original Sin here, don't you?

Moral relativism is legitemate. There is little point, however in saying that humanity is innately evil - the circumstantial evidence is entirely against it. For every person who is "pure evil" (assuming you believe in the concept of evil), there are at least ten thousand who are not. Rough guess, of course.

People are neither evil nor good. They are selfish. You can always count on someone to do what's in their own interest.

You may not like me at first, but soon you will all come to realise I have nothing but your best interests in mind. Just trust in me and give me absolute power. Only then will all be well. :D

And you're flamebaiting, you troll. I am Catholic and I take offense to that.

maybe i do have an inflated opinion of myself, but since you are registered on NS and i can't think of anyone on this forum that dislikes me, i wouldn't think i'm a "recalcitrant moron". but even if i am, you still shouldn't dislike me before you've read a few of my posts.

I'm not a moron, but you should dislike me solely for the fact that the favor of someone like you would lessen my self-respect.

Where do you look with the microscope to find the good?

If I'm hatable, then most other people I know are Lucifer's angels.

You wouldn't hate me unless you REALLY had that much of a grudge against me.

Where do you look with the microscope to find the good?it depends on the person. sometimes it's buried in the mind... on other's the heart... and for the very rare... the colon.

Go ahead and do so. Notice that the only one here who's insulting anyone is you.

It is impossible to deny that, from a mainstream philisophical standpoint, the Catholic concept of good and evil is terribly outmoded. Original sin simply doesn't hold up under Humanist inspection.

Notice that I've said nothing about Catholicism as a religion - I've only commented on one specific corner of Catholic philosophy. Outmoded philosophical concepts are not uncommon to religion, mind you. Even Zen Buddhism has them.

I'm good with some tequila, but on a general basis, yes, you should most definitely dislike me.
