The annotated Southern entity

I would like if it were noted that this post is not a flame - it's a rant. Hardly even that, it's more of an expression of ideas, of frustration towards the current mindset of some folk here in NS. I'm sure this thread will be deleted or locked, but I worry not, becuase the beauty of NS is the fact that ideas are exchanged freely, that the majority, minory, the oppressed and the freed may say what they wish.

That is why I have a few things to point out, so that maybe, just maybe, some people will remember that even in the south...we aren't all the same. I currently live in Mississippi, although, I'm relocating to Oklahoma in about a week, so either way, I'm still southern. I was born to both Redneck and Hick bloodlines, even some Coonass (French-Louisiana Redneck), and I have seen every form of judgment laid upon the Southern kith and kin possible...and many misconceptions.

So, I would like to list a few of my beliefs, coming straight to you, from a simple Southerner.

1) I'm not a racist - I enjoy civil liberties, the right to marry into whatever race you wish, to do whatever any other race does. There is no superiority or opposite thereof.

2) I oppose Racial Profiling as well as Racial Quotas. Both are exteremly unjust. Simply because a black man chooses to go into a white neighborhood, does not mean they are there to steal. Just as a white man in a black neighborhood isn't there to buy weed. Racial profiling on the other hand, that is just as prejiduce. The fact that universities *must* have so many minorities enrolled cheats said minorities of their true capabilities.

3) Gay Marraige, I'm not gay, but I do not oppose their right to marry...and I harbor no such notions that such a right would degrade american values.

4) Gun Ownership, I believe that such right of ownership should be granted to all people who do not have a previous infraction with the law. People can claim all they want that children will find a gun and kill themselves...to that, I have only one thing to say: If one has weapons in their home, I don't care if it's a knife, sword, gun, mouse trap...they should be taught how to handle it properly and safely. If guns are hidden away carelessly without giving your child such vital knowledge, and if they find said guns, they won't know how to handle it properly, won't treat it with respect...and that can be dangerous.

5) Religion...I believe that everyone has a right to believe, or disblieve whatever they will. Freedom of religion, freedom from religion. I was born a Baptist, and I'm now a Satanist.

6) Bush. I dislike Bush. I spent four years of my life in Texas, and I hold a certain degree of allegiance to it, but not to Bush. He is a sad juxtaposition of the all-too-obscure american dream.

Anyhow, this is just my rant. I do not know it's purpose; I suppose it's merely to show people that simply because one is Southern, does not mean that they are the epitimy of evil.

Thank you for your time.

I doubt it will be read, too. Hehe. :)
I just figured that once I posted this, I would be flamed.
