Assuming you mean a member of the United States Republican Party, I would be a little surprised, as I'm not American, but if I had a child who moved there and became one, I would be a little disappointed, but it would be my own fault for being a bad parent.

Disappointed because your child obviously has different political views than you? If your kid became Republican it woudn't mean that you were a bad parent.

I'm not a righty, but I'd still let them do whatever they wanted poltically.

I would do the same thing as I would if my child were gay. I would say "I don't know if it is a choice, or if you are born that way, but good for you!"

I would let themdo whatever they want. After all, I would be giving them freedom of political view. That way, the Reds (and I dont mean redneck I mean the fact that the Republican color is Red) are to blame for my child's loss of freedom, not me. Then I have all the more reson to go out and protest the reds every chance I get

I'd probably send her to her room without dinner for choosing to identify with any one party exclusively. That's the habit of mindless partisan tools. I want my daughter to think for herself.
