This is funny. Why not though. I'm pretty sure you won't need to have the 38 sates to force the other 12. Heck, The Northwest and Industrial Midwest might join the "Fringe 12". They can keep thier theocratic rule, bibles, and hate gays as much as they want. Blue states get to keep thier money, diversity, liberty and personal freedom. Everybody wins.



Notice how the author does not mention the economic powerhouse of the blue "Fringe 12". Or the divorce rate of the "Mainstream United States of America" and thier "moral values".

But on a more realistic note, I think that if we're going to segregate the country into red and blue by state, we're going to end up with a lot of Republicans in the US of Canada and a lot of Democrats in Jesusland. It'd be a lot more sensible if we just make each and every person in the US into their own sovereign nation. Of course, you'd need a passport for sex, but people would be a lot happier with their government (one would hope).
