I don't have a band, but I'm sitting with one for a Christmas party this year (mostly blues and old standards), and a gang of us inside that larger band have decided we're going to go post-modern and become a Spinal Tap tribute band--Spinal-tallica. What do you think? Is that horrible or what?

If blues and standards are on the fare I would imagine the guests will be mostly middle aged. I doubt very seriously if they will appreciate your taste in music. I guess if you don't care if you ever get a gig again, go for it.

You don't know these people. We're all workers in a brewery, and it's the company party. We've passed the idea around and we have some people really eager to hear "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight" and "Big Bottom."
But it's not a band that'll ever try to gig around. Most of the other guys are already in bands and have their own gigs going. All I do is strum a rhythm guitar with the amp turned down low. :D

Our band is called the Whiskey Jug Band. We play in the style of classic crying country: Hank Williams, George Jones, Conway Twitty, Jim Reeves, Buck Owens, Don Gibson, Eddy Arnold, and of course Webb Pierce. I play the upright bass, and we have a blast playing all of the old hits.

Currently, my band is going through a ska/jazz phase, however, we have experimented with many styles in the past. These include: rock, electronica and industrial. We're releasing a new album fairly soon of our latest jazz exploits. I even learned the Sax just for it. :P

I don't know if a festival crowd is the right place to try a jazz fusion experiment.

When our lady singer joins us on stage we sing this one:
Hey, Louisiana woman, Mississippi man,
We get together every time we can.
The Mississippi River can keep us apart,
There's too much love in this Mississippi heart,
Too much love in this Louisiana heart.
See the alligator all a waitin' nearby,
Sooner or later they know I'm gonna try.
When she waves from the bank don't you know I know,
It's goodbye fishin' line, see you while ago.
With a Louisiana woman waitin' on the other side,
The Mississippi River don't look so wide.
Louisiana woman, Mississippi man,
We get together every time we can.
The Mississippi River can keep us apart,
There's too much love in this Mississippi heart,
Too much love in this Louisiana heart.
Well, I thought I'd been loved but I never had,
Till I was wrapped In the arms of a Mississippi man.
When he holds me close it feels almost,
Like another hurricane just ripped the coast.
If he can't come to me, I'm a-gonna go to him,
That Mississippi River, Lord, I'm gonna swim.
Hey, Louisiana woman, Mississippi man,
We get together every time we can.
The Mississippi River can keep us apart,
There's too much love in this Mississippi heart,
Too much love in this Louisiana heart.
Well, that Mississippi River, Lord, it's one mile wide<
And I'm gonna get me to the other side.
Mississippi man, I'm losin' my mind.
Gotta have your lovin' one more time.
I'm gonna jump in the river and here go,
Too bad alligatior, you swim too slow.
Hey, Louisiana woman, Mississippi man,
We get together every time we can.
The Mississippi River can keep us apart,
There's too much love in this Mississippi heart,
Too much love in this Louisiana heart.
There's too much love in this Mississippi heart,
Too much love in this Louisiana heart.
Hey!
To fade.
There's too much love in the Mississippi heart.
Too much love in this Louisiana heart.
There's too much love in the Mississippi heart.
Too much love in this Louisiana heart.
Hey!
A truely great duet, originally done by Lorreta Lynn and Conway Twitty.
