Nice fact blunder-head.

BTW This is an urban legend and has absolutely no truth to it. How can you get an average IQ of an entire state?

Braindead:20
IQ points lost just reading this post: 7

And just so you know, Bush scored higher on his SATs and a military exam than Kerry did. Bush isn't stupid, he just plays dumb for the masses, and flat out refuses to analyze himself or his decisions.

I'm a Kerry voter, but at least I don't feel the need to make up shit to feel good about my decision.

There have been studies that have taken large samples and compiled stats based on state IQ. The IQ's range from about 104 being the smartest to about 95 being the worst. There is a slight correlation, but not one that I think is significant. The lone 95: Washington D.C. which voted predominantly democrat.

Yes you can have an "average" for IQ in a state, but it will be nowhere near accurate. You have many people living in states that have never been tested.

I found the sources home page, and while they do talk a great deal about testing for education and such they mention no tests like this. The real source for this is The Economist who could not provide a source for it when it was debunked.

That is unless you actually post a source.

Yes, but the purpose of a sample is to provide a projection of the whole. All of science was built on samples and have proven them to be sufficiently accurate when used correctly.

In fact, by your logic you could say that Bush didn't win the election because we only had a sample of the entire population vote.

Not saying his imformation is correct, just that you can get good accurate calculations based on entire samples. I'm guessing your state was near the bottom? If it was take heart, if you had been sampled you may have raised the IQ to near 100.

I will agree there as a great majority of scientists, researchers, and professors are very liberal. But the last time I checked they didn't teach you which president to vote for in school.

Post secondary education tends to vote Democrat. College graduates vote Republican. High school drop-outs/no education tend to vote Democrat as well. That means nothing. Your source is wrong and you're foolish for believing it.

This information is clearly incorrect. Just the fact that Mississippi could not possibly have a statewide average of 85 should be enough to convince you. That's saying that 1/2 of the population of mississippi is retarded. Not likely.

As for Bush and Kerry's IQs,
I read a news report that said the compulsory military IQ tests that both candidates took scored Kerry at 120 and Bush at 125.

Honestly, both too low in my books. (Though I supported Kerry)

For the record, the national IQ of the united states is 98, same as Canada. BUT canada overwhelmingly supported Kerry, so IQ does not really come into it.

Korea's average IQ is 107. Food for thought.

Thank you for the site. Always good to have a source to verify the validity (or lack thereof) of information posted. I tried to verify this info via snopes, but only found the obviously false:

http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/hoaxes/presiq.htm
http://www.snopes.com/politics/satire/gop.asp

I did find some interesting links from the museumofhoaxes site. While not specifically addressing IQ vs. Voting Preferences, I thought they are interesting and do provide some food for thought. Not exactly sure what they say about either candidate's supporters, but I did feel they were somewhat along the same lines and therefore could be considered 'on topic.'

Disclaimer: I was unable to confirm nor refute either of these site's claims.

Again, thanks for the website.
