Disgusted.

I don't know weather they have it in your area but around where I live there is a custom called Mischeif Night. Normally it is good fun, kids get to go out and have a little fun, ie: last year they moved a few benches and the fountain got fairy liquid put in it and some dishes, along with a sign saying, gone 2 the pub. All good fun. It was cleared up the next day and everyone was happy.

However last night it was not so good, one student is now in hospital due to being assulted as she went home, the local secondary school has been painted and abusive messges at teachers and pupils, including racial abuse has been painted on it. 2 houses that supposed 'swots' live in have been egged as well as several teaches.

I have to say that it is to far, I go to that school and I've lived in the area for a few years now. And this is the worsed thats ever happened. I am quite disgusted by what has happened, and the fact that it is most likely my class mates who ahve commited this abuse. The school had just had a 1.4 million £ new juilding built which is now covered in paint.

I probably sound like a bit of a 'old grumpy man' complaining about the youth of today, however it was one of my freinds who was assulted and I just can't balive how low people have sunk to attack peoples houses and paint racist abuse around.

You don't need to reply to this thread, it's jut me venting some anger.

I don't like the idea of violent attacks and vandalizing schools. Prankings can be funny when done by the clever, but this is obviously morons at work, and it should be addressed as such.

Consider that these idiots will do such things as attention seeking, so officials must speak to the public and acknowledge only the clever pranksters. Focusing on the best prank instead of the media outlining the negativity of this night can discourage the abusive actions. Make an open challenge to the dumbasses who would do this by persuading them to think harder.

While racial epitaphs are an unkind gesture, I believe there is nothing wrong with using words. There is much lost in American lierature because people choose to abolish certain words only because a belligerent few use them so harshly. Certain people are overly offended by certain words, instead of encouraging the offensiveness try working to mature beyond the point so unkind words don't hurt you.

Mark Twain is an example of a creative writer who has written many books with offensive words in them, but those words were once so commonplace that people often used them without hatred intent. In this example I could have written the offending word that Mark Twain used, but I could be banned simply for printing it - and that is causing more harm than verbal attacks do.

I think a SWOT is used for "straight A students". I'm thinking it means "Slept With Our Teacher"... I don't know for certain.

Uncreative. Violent. *snort* They call that mischief?

See the problem is that I wasn't there to lead them. To teach them. CHildren have so few positive mischief rolemodels these days. I would suggest bringing in a few skilled troublemakers to show these local kids how it is done. I'm available, but my 'consultation fees' are a bit steep.

I agree, this was a tasteless act of vandalism, not a prank. A good prank would be like a senior prank a few years back at my school: the seniors got two pigs and painted a 1 on one of them and a 3 on the other. The school caught 1 and 3 in short order, but spend days searching high and low for Pig 2 (who, of course, did not exist). That's creative and it's not damaging. Another good one: kids led a cow up some stairs to a balcony on campus. Cows do not go down stairs. The school needed to get a crane...
I agree with LG, these kids need some inspiration.
