well, it's very amuzing until you realize that the IQ test is biased in a way. But hey, we never said the election process ensured the most competant candidate won... just that the one best at manipulating public opinion would.

Are you telling me that the population of California are smarter than any of the states that voted for bush? Considering California’s population is hugely uneducated immigrants with a fairly high population in urban decay, I doubt California’s population is smarter than all of Bushes states. The rest of the educated people have crippled IQ's simple because they live in sunny California, where thinking is less important.

IQ isn't based on knowledge, it's based on an individuals ability to overcome a given logic problem or similar question. A mate of mine is dyslexic and dyspraxic but his IQ is 165

These numbers are wrong, very wrong. The average IQ is 100 with 85 being mildly retarded. These numbers are rediculously exaggerated.

These are the true numbers, although they are for Gore/Bush

There is still a mild relationship, but not one to substantiate anything. If you want any correlation look at the Bible Belt.

An IQ in the 80/90 range is borderline mentally challenged. I highly doubt that 3/4 of the country is literally mentally challenged. This is just more ignorant garbage.
If this is true, which it isn't, Kerry's home state of Colorado, where he was born and lived the early years of his life, means that he is among the 'stupid.' So, we have a bunch of people that claim to be intelligent following an idiot. Kerry or Bush; it doesn't matter. Either way, your argument shows that those people are not as bright as they think. You don't understand the law of averages, do you? It's ok... here let me help: An 'average' is a number on a scale of other numbers that represents the 'rough equivalent' of all the other numbers added together and then their sum divided by the amount of them. That means that some numbers of the scale are higher (like a presidential candidate's [barring of course Bush's as he has proven countless times in the media during speeches]) and some are lower... I'm not saying All republicans are stupid. My point is the south is way more concerned with slowing social progress (almost all civil rights issues swing left over time) than issues like healthcare and the economy. Everyone, to some degree, has some bigotry in them. The difference is in how they deal with it. Chris Rock, a semi-famous black comedian, has a great way to look at it. "Who's more racist: White people or black people? Black people! 'Cuz black people hate black people, too. There's two kinds.. there's black people.. and there's niggas.. and the niggas have got to go!"

Granted, it's comedy, but he points out a very clear distinction as the routine goes on. Everyone shares some kind of racist, bigot tendencies. It's not that you have or dont have them, it's just how you act. Based on the area I grew up in, and later lived for some time, I freely admit a base-level default disliking of koreans. I know several *individual* members that are excellent people, and I'd trust them at my back for anything.. but I still carry that bias. I wait to see if they legitimize my feelings or not before I let them know exactly how I feel, though.

(not like I've been free of the bias myself, being a Native tends to get me some crap, too)

What's the IQ of a country that thinks religious beliefs should dictate politics? (OOPS, that was a stupid questions wasn't it? Sorry fellow U.S. citizens, Isralies, Arabic nations, Indian nations, etc. - didn't mean to imply that religion has a place in your country's political leadership, I'm sure it doesn't).

2) makes me think of a joke - hear about the Alabamian who moved to New York? He doubled the collective IQ of both states.

Seriously, this is a B.S. analysis and I give it as much credence as I give Bill O'Reilly.

All right. The link was to a falsified chart. I propose this one. Although intelligence isn't directly correlated with how much schooling one completes it does have some relation. So here's the link to the 2000 census page for level of education completed:

http://www.census.gov/population/socdemo/education/p20-536/tab13.txt

and here's the correlation in voting:

State---% Pop Completed College---Candidate of choice
1 CO 34.6 Bush
2 MA 32.7 Kerry
3 MD 32.3 Kerry
4 VA 31.9 Bush
5 CT 31.6 Kerry
6 MN 31.2 Kerry
7 NH 30.1 Kerry
8 NJ 30.1 Kerry
9 VT 28.8 Kerry
10 NY 28.7 Kerry
11 WA 28.6 Kerry
12 AK 28.1 Bush
13 CA 27.5 Kerry
14 KS 27.3 Bush
15 OR 27.2 Kerry
16 IL 27.1 Kerry
17 RI 26.4 Kerry
18 HI 26.3 Kerry
19 MO 26.2 Bush
20 SD 25.7 Bush
21 IA 25.5 Bush
22 AZ 24.6 Bush
23 NB 24.6 Bush
24 OH 24.6 Bush
25 PA 24.3 Kerry
26 ME 24.1 Kerry
27 DL 24.0 Kerry
28 TX 23.9 Bush
29 MT 23.8 Bush
30 WI 23.8 Kerry
31 NM 23.6 Bush
32 NC 23.2 Bush
33 GA 23.1 Bush
34 MI 23.0 Kerry
In AL, AR, FL, ID, IN, KY, LA, MS, NV, ND, OK, SC, TN, UT, WV, WY the percent ranges from 22.8% in FL to the lowest, 15.3%, WV, and they all went for Bush. Thus, Bush won only 4 of the 16 states with the highest percentage of the population graduating from college but took all of the bottom 16 states. Looks like if the democrats want to win they'll have to get more people to complete college. :p

Question: I see that this is a census total. I'd like to make 3 points:

a) All of the states with higher college graduation rates also have larger cities (and more colleges). This will drive up numbers.
b) All of the states with higher college graduation rates are also more populous states. This will also drive up proportions, if only because having a larger labor pool brings in more (and more diverse) jobs. All 4 of the states Bush won proves that, as do the Kerry states.
c) This dovetails with B... the less educated states, in having less diverse economies and smaller major cities, will certainly have fewer (by %) college grads. There is a reason why most of the major colleges in the US are on the seaboards and Chicago. Further, you don't typically go to college if you're working in a service industry/manufacturing/etc.

While I agree that it may have some correlation, I'd also like to point out that I know a lot of morons with college degrees, too . :)

Except that liberals are pompous, arrogant, stupid, and worst of all, ignorant of their own stupidity.
I don't mind you trying to insult us liberals, but at least give something to back up your claims.
Way to go Metzville!!!

We need more brilliant conversationalists like you on here.
Was this sarcasm? Cause is no way that Metzville's comment was in any way "brilliant". He was just spewing that comment out of his @$$.
