Something I am willing to admit.

Everyone sitting down? Everyone swallow their beverages so they don't ruin a perfectly good keyboard or monitor with a spit-take.

Aherm.

Here it goes.

I am not drunk.

I formally acknowledge that George W. Bush was legitimately elected as President of the United States in 2004 by a majority of the voting public and the Electorate.

There. I have said it. I will never say it again. You all know that I accept it, will not fight it, and will not flip-flop concerning Gore's win of the popular vote in 2000 vs. the Electorate.

I welcome him to his first legitimate term of office and will be glad to say goodbye to him in 2008. I only hope he does not do the following:

1] Screw us any more with the rest of the world.
2] Try to unify the US under the banner of Jesus.

I doubt he'll try #2 ... but I'm not holding my breath on #1.

I am still the most liberal/leftist person on this forum, but I can be gracious. I do not see this as a defeat. After all, 50 million people rallied behind the Democratic party. Gives me hope for things to come in 2006 (mid-term) and 2008. Courage Democrats! Hope is still on the way.

As much as i dislike the result, it was a good election to lose cause GW will now now have to clean up his own mess - ie Iraq, massive budget deficit etc and the democrats can put up someone with a personality in four years.

Well I guess there is no point in whinning or complaining about the results, they are what they are.

I agree. I think to some extent it's fair to Bush to give him 4 years to clean up the 'mess'.

But as always, people fear his incompetence. Because we live in a very troubled era, there should be no room for mistakes.

But time would tell, if he does a bad job, Repub's would definitely not win the next election.

I agree. George W. Bush is the properly elected President of the United States.

The closeness of the race should give both sides something to consider, however.

You optomistic liberals are delusional. Ever since the dems lost the House democrats keep telling me they will retake it the next election and every year they lose more and more seats. Everybody is scrambling off the Democratic ship, even Latinos and women are jumping on the GOP bandwagon. Nobody wants to be in a loser party. Things are really in free fall when one of the major leaders of the Democratic Party is voted out of office. Soon the Repulicans will even be able to overcome fillabusters. The Supreme Court will soon be filled with arch reactionaries who will anihilate any and every piece of legislation which make this country a better place. Supreme Court justices are in for LIFE. Things are going to be very bad for a long time. Thats all there is to it.

Yes, well, I agree that I, as a Republican, was glad to see that his victory was undisputed this time. At least hopefully we can begin to heal the rift that has divided this country. And hopefully the Dems will take this as a lesson that perhaps they should start moving more towards the center, and put up a more moderate candidate. I am fairly sure that they could make a return if they would get in line with the feelings of the heartland. After all, they controlled the country until the Civil Rights Movement, and extremely liberal tendencies, lost them the "Solid South". I would suggest they take actions to try and make up some ground.

Amazing how some neocons can take a positive message and turn it into an attack. *sigh*

Apparently it really does take a terrorist attack to unite the US.
