Just thinking about Bush being made the 'Leader of the Free world' as the BBC put it I thought, What exacly is the Free World, and if it includes America and Britian then it isn't Free, or any other country for that matter. Because we have laws. The only Free country would be a country with Archany as a goverment, which is of course not a goverment. And if that where true then there'd be no Goverment would there. Or no Leader.

So can you explain to me what 'The Free World is' and why it's called that?

Bush is not the Leader of any bit of the World but America, because only the Americans had the opportunity to vote.

The day that the rest of the world gets to vote in the American elections, then an American president can claim to be Leader of the Free World. Until then, they're just claiming something they're not. Heh, but what's new there amongst American politicians?

Could be a hangover from the Cold War, back when the 'Free World' meant NATO.

Most people see Western Europe, Canada, Japan, SK, and the US as the free world, the US is the most powerful Western country so the leader of the US is the leader of the Free World correct?

Like it or not, the American President is the most powerful man in the world, it's not just a claim but a fact.
