You gotta hand it to him

You Right Wingers may hate Kerry, but you got to admit that at least he didn't try to drag this out like Gore did in 2000. He saw that it wasn't winnable, and he conceeded. You know if America could've seen that before the election, Kerry probably would've won.

Saw what? That he conceeded the loss and not demanded a recount dispite the fact the election was not as close as 2000? If people knew he would bow out gracefully, they would have voted for him? Is that what you're saying?

No what I saw was a man who was not arrogant. Who didn't "stay the course". He's been saying that throughout the campagin trail, and this time he did prove that he is diffrent from Bush. He realized that by dragging this out, he would hurt the Democratic party reputation and put America through unessicary stress. I wanted America to see that Kerry is not aggorant, that he takes in all information before making a decision, and he is willing to admit that he lost. That is the kind of man we need in the White House, and I hate it that we won't get it this time around.

I agree. The whole election went a lot smoother than I expected. I figured we'd be discussing hanging chads and rigged electronic voting machines for the next three months. But Sen. Kerry did graciously bow out when he knew it was over, and for that, I salute him.

It just wasn't that close. I understood why Gore dragged it out in 2000, because it was very close, but this time around there was just no reason.

Absolutely..!

The "wasn't winnable" part, that is...

..everything else you said is nonsense.

Kudos for Kerry for conceding defeat.

Sounds familiar though. He conceded defeat in Vietnam when he thought we were losing. At least he was right the second time around.

Sorry, just had to throw that in as an extra jab. Good fight, Kerry. You suprised me. I didn't think you'd come so close, was expecting (and hoping) more like 55% Bush.

I still think very little of Kerry, but he was a very good loser, and I commend him.

This is sort of the point - Kerry also said that he would have stayed in the race if there were any way he thought he could win. The math just didn't work for him and he knew he was out.

Having said that, he should be commended for not trying to litigate a victory anyway.
