Hey everybody! Tom Daschle, the head Democrat senator lost his senate seat. That's pretty cool! I don't much care that he's a D, I just love when senior politicians get fired.

So between discrimination of gays (and other minorities), strict anti-abortion laws, patriot acts 2, 3, 4 and 5, a draft, corporate welfare, reduced spending for education and homeland security, more unemployment due to outsourcing, mix of christian fundamentalists with politics and the alienation of allies, you want to serve drinks? This is a pretty sick hell. It reminds me of the book "1984" from George Orwell.

here's what will happen

bush will want to proceed on his "axis of evil" assault in an attempt to bolster his approval ratings and jack up halliburtons stock more

we will of course require a draft. bush is no longer accountable to the american public, but the congress is. bush will however not have congress issue a draft or declare war, the overwhelmingly republican congress willgive bush the consent to "protect america by any means necesary" or something all encompassing like that, he will then usurp the congressional powers, destroy the separation of power (which he will already have done by adding enough neo nazi activist judges to the SC that he can do whatever he wants without repurcussion of law) and declare war on north korea, iran, and canada simultaneously and institute a "volunteer draft" that you dont have to go, but if you dont they will make sure you get arrested for something or threaten your family, and thousands of americans will die

This is coming from someone who actually lives in South Dakota. I'am very pleased to see the turn out the the Senate election. The only reason Daschle was the Senator for so long was because of the Base closure thing. Tom claimed he saved Ellsworth from base closure for the last 10 or so years. But how I see it, if it is going to close, than it is going to close. The only people that can claim credit for this, are the people who decide what bases to close. Go John Thune!

Douglas High School - Ellsworth = 50% less students, 90% budget cut, and no more annoying B-1 bombers flying over the school.

Since Daschle has many ties in Washington, and he led the democratic party in the senate during the plolarized campaign, perhaps the selection of a new minority party leader will aid in a new bipartisan feeling in Washington. I'm personally rooting for Obama, even though I'm sure he doesn't have the needed experience.

Wrong. The Supreme Court is filled with the "best" (read as: most left wing) the Dem's have to offer. It is the Democrats last hope to spread their Babylonian agenda upon America.

With my own senator, Arlen Spectar, probably going to be Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, the appointees will thankfully be more Right-wing.

The Libs, once again, have failed to see the way the wind is blowing in the US

This election, with all of the huge hoopla put out by the Democrats in an attempt to prove that "This is what the people REALLY WANT!" has failed miserably.

Because quite simply, "the people" don't want that. Not the majority of them, anyway.

They console themselves by doing two things: 1) grousing that maybe if they had just 5, 10, 15, 20 more percentage points turn out, they'd get that win "THE PEOPLE" are really looking for, while ignoring the fact that their backbreaking efforts to drag out every single "closet Democrat" ("I know you're hiding in there! Now you get the f**k out and vote for Kerry!!!!") has produced less votes for their candidate than in 2000, when they did not expend 1/10th of the energy!

2) Pulling a Michael Moore, and denigrating the intelligence and character of the very people who's best interests they just spent a year vowing to see realized!

I've heard it for 72 hours straight: Stupid rednecks! Stupid friggin' rednecks! Stupid friggin' ignorant Bible-thumping bucktoothed sister-fu**ing rednecks!

First off, you've officially reduced yourself to the level of a KKK member. You've become the thing you claim to hate the most: a stereotyping, slur-spewing, hate filled bigot. Congrats! The Party is proud of you. :D

Secondly, do you honestly think that just because someone lives in the South or Midwest, they do not have the basic common sense to decide when someone is bullshitting them? When someone's belief system is grossly out of sync with theirs? When they feel that person would send the country down a path that they wouldn't want to see?

That's just part of the arrogance, I guess. If you're not from Massachussetts and you've never burned an effigy in protest, then I guess you're just a sub-human species in their eyes.

Too bad. We won. Maybe someday you'll realize there's a lot more of us than there are of you, and frankly, we're sick of your BS.

Now that was uncalled for.

We now have a Senate that is against infanticide and gay marriage (maybe, I don't know how many "moderate Republicans" got elected). You say it like it's a bad thing. And just because someone is against gay marriage (which exists in no real religion [I'm excluding the secular humanists here], since the only religions that support homosexuality [some "progressive" Shintoists and Buddhists] do not have a marriage rite) doesn't make him "anit-gay", as you call him.

Alan Keyes is an honest, straight-talking, God-fearing man and you do not need to be treating him like some terrible blight on our country. If you can't respect him for his beliefs and character, you should at least respect that he is a former ambassador and treat him as such.

How could have Alan Keyes have changed the situation? 56 senators is not the 2/3s majority the Republicans need to do anything they want without impunity. The Democrats can still stop things they do not want from passing. This election just stopped a party majority switch like what happened with Jim Jeffords (Vermont) from happening again.

They should but they won't. Under Bush, government expanded more in four years than under Clinton's 8. Lew Rockwell wrote a good article on why this is the case. http://www.lewrockwell.com/rockwell/kerry-calamity.html
He makes a good case that a Democrat in the white house and a Republican congress is the best 2-party election outcome.

75% of Bush supporters believe that Iraq had WMD still. Evidently Southerns and Westerners do indeed have trouble figuring out when someone is bullshitting them, but only when it's the president, right?

Second, more people voted for Kerry than any candidate, ever, except for Bush in 2004. So your claims that the Democratic base collapsed or that some clear message has been sent by overwhelming Republican voting is absolutely false. And look at this. According to the USA Today newspaper, 54% of voters 18-29 voted for Kerry (as opposed to 45% for Bush). Now which group votes the least? That's right, people 18-29. The Democrats have more than enough votes to win, but failed to get them to actually vote. There are plenty of non-voting conservatives as well but the fact is that the most liberal age group votes the least presents a clear indication that the Democrats indeed have the potential to win.

Some liberals maintain that they are inherently superior to conservatives because they believe that the government should help people and are willing to sacrifice some of their wealth to do it. Quite frankly, that is a morally superior position to hold. Should liberals be obnoxious about it? No. But neither should you.

Just because Bush won does not mean that conservatism is right. It does not mean that there are more conservatives. All it means is, more conservatives voted. You and your president have no mandate, only a victory everyone would call the closest ever if it wasn't on the heels of one even worse.

No! Only the democrat minority support [the draft].

Yeah. The Democratic minority that can see we need more troops on the ground. Which evidently you Republicans can or will not accept. But hell, as long as it isn't you, who cares if some poor Black kid dies? He'd just rob the government of welfare money later in life anyway.

Youi can't just ramble on like that. Show me proof there's going to be a draft. Show me a house or senate bill that could institute a draft. Sources people, we need sources.

Also... Outsourcing of jobs have been happening sinse the 1980's. The economy is turning from a predominately manufacturing to more white collar. It's the natural progression of things. It's life.

The rest I won't justify with a response. I'm tired of talking about it. the anti-Bush crowd have nothing to do now but cry and bemoan their loss. I agree Bush needs to help unite America, but it's going to be pretty hard when 47% of the electoral college will in no way give this president a chance.

We need a draft or we need increased hiring of soldiers. The Bush administration has put forth no plan for increased hiring. So what the hell are we supposed to expect will happen? Honestly if the options are lose Iraq or have a draft, I'll take the draft, even being 18 as I type this.

Oursourcing to America is good. Outsourcing to America ending because the government doesn't invest in high tech and companies abandon us for larger markets in Asia is bad. Well paying manufacturing jobs disappearing to be replaced by minimum wage service industry jobs, while it may be the natural progression of capitalism, does not benefit the economy or the people who are part of it.
