Thank-you, America, for Denying My Right to Happiness

This is by no means intended to be flamebait, and if interpreted as such, then, I'll take my warning with a grain of salt and step back... I did say I was going to take a break from NS, but I feel inclined to post this rant just about anywhere I can right now, and this is one of those places.

First, and foremost, I just want to thank all the Americans who went out today and voted, illegally might I add, to deny my right to happiness by voting to ban gay marriage in their states.

Second, Ben Franklin once said, "The Constitution only gives people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself."

I have caught happiness. I'm in love, as a female, with the most beautiful woman in the world, and we're engaged to be married. Unfortuantely, the US population feels the need to interfere with my private life and deny me the happiness that marriage would bring to our union in this day and age.

To me, this is not only discrimination, it's intolerant, and ignorant.

I don't care if you don't agree with homosexuality or respect me for it or whatever, I don't care, all I want to do is be happy... and thanks to the 11 states today, you've only denied me my fundamental American right to happiness.

I hope you're happy with yourselves.

We are. I don't know why your happiness depends on a piece of paper from the government, but if this is enough to ruin your happiness, my condolences.

Yup!

You realize you just affirmed that you not only violated the Constitution but that you have no regard for the ideology our country is based upon, right?

Not in the least.
