Gay Marriage failure.

Thus far 10 out of 11 states have passed bans on gay marrige. Only Oregon has not returned results on theirs yet. Seems to me that contrary to all the polls and "evidence" presented on this site, Gay Marriage is not wanted in the USA.

Actually, all eleven have denied it.

Here's my thread on it, I think the opening post captures my horror at their actions

It's disgraceful, and deeply upsetting. I certainly hope that it is remedied at some point in all these states.

what is desired by the majority is always right, that is representative democracy. :) No doctatorship of the minority.

No, that's called mob rule. Would you say the majority was right when Gallileo claimed that the Earth went around the sun?

No because that was not a majority opinion. Research.

I'm in one of those states, and for the record, I voted against making this a law.

Play nice. I was addressing your statement of "the majority is always right". That's a might-makes-right point of view, and is not represetitive democracy.

Then I salute you, and say that you are not worthy of the massive abuse that will be heaped upon your head merely because you live where you live

In the event the Chimp is re-selected, don't be surprised if Homosexual Concentration Camps are instituted within 4 years.

Actually, he's winning the popular vote this time around as well. Looks like Kerry is less popular than Gore, or Democrats are even more incompetent at punching cards this time around.

There's even an NS UN category for it, "Tyranny by Majority."

It only takes some "common" sense or a little historical perspectve to see how moronic such an idea is.

Yes, Tyranny by Majority. Thanks. Some say that democracy gone bad is anarchy, but that's been taken back. "Mob rule" was all I had, I remember it from Socrates and why he killed himself. But yes, Tyanny by Majority. We've-got-rocks-and-you-don't government.

So if the population of Nazi Germany had voted and approved the Final Solution you would say the Holocaust was right?

Abuse? I couldn't give a flying fuck what anyone thinks of my decision. I stand by my feelings on the matter, openly. I'm not gay, but I don't think that they should be discriminated against unconstitutionally.

I don't mean people are going to yell at you for voting against the law, I mean people are going to yell at you and call you a Homophobic bigot purely because you live in a state that has outlawed gay marriage, even though you didn't vote for it.

Yeah, well again, I don't care. I know what I stand for, even if nobody else does at first glance, and I don't care what people think of it. It's my vote, and I'll do what I damned well please with it.

At least I didn't do the socio-political equivalent of wiping my ass with it, by voting for Bush.

Umm yeah God Bless the fossil vote and Christian voting blocks casting their bean on an issue that is not a voter decision.

I love how, since a majority has voted on something, evidence is now called into question. Get to a thread on the subject and debate some of that evidence, big man. It's yet to be defeated (despite this majority you cite who must obviously have an as-yet-to-be-presented good argument), so if you think you can do better, get crackin'. Else, shut the hell up as I file the US away with such other enemies of civil rights not popular with the majority.

So I suppose blacks shouldn't be allowed to vote either? I mean, universal suffrage was implemented although the majority opposed it  .

Oppression is never made right by a large number of people carrying it out.

Bush is actually a cunning old witch, I'll give him that. Of course he knew most people opposed gay marriage, so instead of having to face debate, which he hates (see the way he insulted the opposition when campaigning for war in Iraq), he simply calls a vote and says "hey, democracy!"

what is desired by the majority is always right, that is representative democracy.
Your defense of atrocities such as slavery, the invasion of Aztec territory by Cortez, and the refusal to let Africans vote is shocking. If that wasn't your opinion... think before you post something saying otherwise.
