Has presidency lost its touch?

To me the position of president has lost its touch. With now seeing this current election. The name president has now lost it’s honor. You use to think highly of some one with the of name president ( as you look farther back in history). Now as I would like to say it has lost its touch.

I have realized that in order to become president you just need to become one of two things. You need to have a well known name or you need to have a large sum of money. (If you have the first one you have the second).

I now think that becoming the president of this nation is now not that special. Do any of you agree?

What in the world makes you think it's any different now than it used to be? Just because the issues are more recent and fresher in memory doesn't make them worse. Don't let false nostalgia cloud your perception.

I'm not sure if they've LOST touch, but they sure are out of touch. And in a way, since voting isnt compulsory in the US that helps them. People think they're not in touch, so they don't vote. But then politicians only take the voters into account. Vicious circle.

People need to start to notice how this stuff affects their lives. And not only their lives, but the lives of those around them, those around the world. Maybe then they can force the candidates to get in touch with the electorate.
