One of my boyfriend's roommates put regular dish-soap in the dishwasher tonight (no, he has never used one). Boyfriend isn't home and there are suds everywhere!!! Has anyone else ever had this happen (or other funny household mishaps), and can anyone tell me how to get it cleaned up quicker/easier than to just keep running water through it? I think it's freaking hilarious, but I don't think my boyfriend will when he gets home in about an hour.....

OK Here's what you do. Turn off the machine.

Now, is it a touch pad job or does it have a dial?

ALSO - Does the sick have a spray head attached to a hose?

Use a broom and sweep them out...

Dunno, a wet-vac?

if you wanna break the suds up... vegetable oil is what I hear.

It is a dial. The sink has a hose, but it won't reach to the dishwasher (tried).

Depends on the touch pad or dial answer. For this a dial is better. You can rinse the interior with the hose (this also reduces the suds) then advance the dial to drain. When you hear the drain finish stop the machine & repeat the hand rinse.

Continue until you get no more suds. Then run a full wash/drain cycle to make sure all the dish soap is gone.

If it is touch pad then definitely a wet vac for the drain cycle.

well, I'm glad someone had experience with it - these townhomes where they live were just thrown together and they need no help from the inhabitants to fall apart! lol I didn't even know it was happening until water started dripping from the ceiling into my b/f's office (which is in the basement under the kitchen).

It's a shame I didn't see this thread earlier. The best thing to do is to try to smother the suds with your body. *nod*

Put some salt around on the foam. It should break it up nicely.

After cleaning up the suds from the floor and mopping up, I suggest turning on all your fans and pointing them at the area, open the windows as well. You wanna get as much air circulating to remove any ligering dampness or nasty mold will start appearing.
