For the M*A*S*H fan's out there....something to amuse yourself with while waiting for the polls to close.

The idea is to remember which idiotic statment was made by Ferret Face, and which one was made by the Lipless Wonder.

you get to choose which one you call which....

Although MASH is one of my favorite old shows, I do not appreciate people from other countries (Canada, right?) calling our president demeaning names. You have made it clear ad nauseum that you do not agree with his decisions, but please have the common courtesy to show our president the simple respect that his position of Commander in Chief deserves. When you insult him with your childish name calling you are insulting the US people. Thank you.

If people associated the US people with the actions and ideals of their president there wouldnt be one person left in the world who wouldnt want to kill you all O_o.

Ive seen too much bloodshed in the name of profit to trust Bush with anything evermore...

I am sure the French people feel the same way when certain sections of the US community are slagging them, their government and country off too, but that does'nt seem to stop the insults ;).

To those of us outside the US, GWB is just another country's leader. We don't have to respect him, if we don't want to, and he has set himself up for this type of parody, with his actions and treatment of the rest of the world.

I listened to a speech by Bush a few days ago, when he stated (these are'nt the exact words, but the best I remember them), "we will take the fight to the terrorists, and attack them on their own soil, so we don't have to fight on American soil". Try to imagine how that makes the rest of the world population feel. The USA is sacrosanct, and the American people worth protecting, but bugger the rest of the world, and its people.

When Bush starts respecting the rest of the world, maybe the rest of the world will start respecting him.

Funny link by the way :D.

Don't worry Zooke, I have a feeling after tomorrow you won't have to worry about people being disrespectful to your president, because it will be Kerry. :)

So then that's why the online Global election from 131 countries that was all over the news last night put Kerry world wide at 77% and Bush at 9% and 3rd parties at 13% because Kerry's the joke? LOL.. I don't think so!

Zeppistan is my husband in real life, so I know him rather well and yes, he has a very good sense of humor and probably meant this thread as a joke. How highly intelligent of you to note the obvious! :rolleyes:

Did you even know that if all the inhabitants of the world would vote on the US election Bush would get less than 25% of the votes? The world would like to kick Bush from here to the next election... :D

Didn't see your post there... really? less than 10%? wow, didn't saw that one...

You mean "deletion" and people don't get deleted for debate and disagreeing. However calling him a joke is very close to the line of flamebait.. But I'm not giving you a warning because in my opinion you didn't cross the line. So don't worry. I'm very fair in my moderation even if you don't like my politics. I don't mix the two! :)

Dear Zooke,

Please bear in mind that a sense of humour is a wonderful thing. It has been rumoured that even your President has one. Why, it has even been rumoured that he himself has made self deprecating remarks about his frequent mis-speakings in the past. This would indicate that this sort of humour is recognized and apreciated by the very person you feel compelled to defend.

Oh yes, and also note that this is sourced from a US newspaper - complete with the comment about the Lipless Wonder versus Ferret Face.

Lighten up, get a grip, and turn that frown upside down.

Zep

P.S - and if it still offends you - please refer to your very own document entitled : The Constitution. Specifically reference the First Ammendment. Then consider the ramifications thereof. Have a nice day.

I don't see how he was demeaning the President. I don't think he even mentioned Al Gore.

No you don't have to respect the leaders of other countries. It is just a common courtesy that most people extend.

"we will take the fight to the terrorists, and attack them on their own soil, so we don't have to fight on American soil". Try to imagine how that makes the rest of the world population feel.

Put yourself in the US's position. We're the target of extremists, and per OBL it because of our allegiance with Israel. Threats are constantly being made to attack our people on our own land, and we occasionally stop such planned attacks. The bombings in Spain, the murder of Russian school children...all of this is in the plans for the US. If, however, we keep them busy trying to fight us on their own soil, it makes us a little safer. How does it make the rest of the world feel that we prefer to protect ourselves? That we would rather these maniacs face our armed and trained soldiers rather than have them slaughter our civilians? Tell me how you would feel if your people were the target? Would you prefer a leader who did whatever he could to protect you even if it didn't please all of the the global community or one who thinks that keeping other nations happy with you no matter what the people had to suffer? Should we roll over like a dog, forsake our committment to Israel, and close our borders?

We're scared! No other word for it...just plain scared. We're also confused. Why have allies that we have supported before turned their backs on us when we are threatened? You say it is because we had no right to go to Iraq. Given the fact that several intelligence sources, including the UN, believed that Saddam had WMD, and that he intended to put them in the hands of terrorists threatening the US, what should we have done? Continue with peaceful negotiations after 17 failed UN resolutions? When Bush took the issue before the UN the security council voted unanimously to force Saddam to comply or to resort to extreme measures. When it came down to it though, we didn't realize that "extreme measures" meant the 18th, 19th, 20th, etc. useless resolution. Saddam was trying to play "big guy" (maybe to keep Iran at bay), being secretive, and talking tough. The majority world opinion was that he was the real deal, however. And we were his major target. Were we just supposed to wait for another 9/11 attack, wait for the UN to determine if Saddam was involved in the attack, and then take him out? If you know anything about Americans you know that we don't play when you threaten us. I'm sorry if you guys got your feelings hurt, but at least one future threat is out of the way.

Yes he does have a good sense of humor and had made self deprecating remarks. As for his skills at speaking, I can relate to that. One on one, I do very well, but put me in front of my board and I have to use charts to make my financial reports understood. I'm hard pressed to remember my name!

Lighten up...I'm trying, but I've recently been confronted with a unique situation. My husband and I have a friend from Kashmire, Aziz. He recently opened up a couple of convenience stores in our town (pop about 30,000 plus an AF base). Aziz was arrested last week for selling 3 bottles of an otc cold medicine to an undercover cop. 2 is the limit. 2 were sold in 1 store and the other bottle was sold in his other store, but as the owner, it is considered that he sold 3 bottles to one customer. Trumped up? Now he's not being allowed visitors or phone calls, the local police won't say specifically why they are still holding him, and his immigration attorney is being kept in the dark too. I know Aziz is a kind, caring person, but I find myself wondering if I really know him. I hate it that I feel this way. What kind of world do I live in that would make me suspect a dear friend?

This election may be the most important election ever. Our very lives may depend on making the right choice, if we even have one.

Keep in mind I'm a southerner.

Question: How do you tell the difference between Democrats, Republicans
and Southern Republicans? The answer can be found by posing the following
question:

You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children.
Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the
corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and
charges. You are carrying a Glock .40, and you are an expert shot. You
have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Democrat's Answer:
Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!
Does the man look poor or Oppressed?
Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to ! attack?
Could we run away?
What does my wife think?
What about the kids?
Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his
hand?
What does the law say about this situation?
Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it?
Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this
send to society and to my children?
Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me?
Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?
If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he
was stabbing me?
Should I call 9-1-1?
Why is this street so deserted?
We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day and make this a happier,
healthier street that would discourage such behavior.
This is all so confusing!
I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a
consensus.
