MSN Slate magazine took a thorough look at the much quoted study (see a couple of different threads last few days) saying that 100,000 Iraqis have been killed since the US invasion.

to say the study was flawed is a massive understatement. MSN Slate is no right wing media source either, it is affiliated with NPR, which most of the Right consider left of center at best.

I don't think I have heard anybody claim 100000 dead(well "official" level that is).

I have heard 10-100000 estimates but no round numbers.

you're attempting to trivialize horror.

Only an idiot would believe that 100,000 number.

Yes, but most of those left of centre consider most of the right to be right of centre, and thus it is in their (those whom the left of centre consider to be right of centre) interests to label a report which is contrary to their position as one which is left of centre at best.

Iraq Body Count (http://iraqbodycount.net) does a study based on news sources. Their present minimum number is over fourteen thousand, I believe. They also freely admit that this number is only for every confirmed death, and that the real number is probably several times higher.

Of course, you know a lot more than the researchers from the Lancet... They are idiots, but it takes more than that to fool a smart lil guy like you...

how so exactly? Yes, it is horrible that at least 8,000 Iraqi civilians are reasonably confirmed to be dead, or that even 30,000 Iraqi civilians have likely been killed. But to take wild guesses that 100,000 are dead does no one any good.

All the deaths, however many have actually occured remain a sad fact of war.
