Well, I just voted....

Standing in line to vote, I spoke to some others and to a person, neither of them were planning to vote for either Bush or Kerry. Can it be? Is this the beginning of the end for these two corrupt parties that have hijacked our country?
Yesterday when I arrived home, I had 12 messages from people trying to get me to vote for Kerry or Bush. I also had 3 people come to my door last night trying to talk me into voting for their guy.
I have had it with these idiots, not to mention the endless other referendums on the ballot. My ballot was 2 pages, front and back of various things to vote on. Everything from making it a requirement that the parents of minors be told if their child tries to obtain an abortion to incorporation of other areas by the county. There has to be a better way....

I voted at 6:30 this morning. No frills, no thrills, no chills. It was depressing.

The polls open for me in half an hour, and I'll be there. I know what you mean about initiatives and the like--I have at least 25 to vote on here in california between the statewide and the citywide initiatives, as well as the major races, local races, and IRV voting for City Supervisor in my district.
I'd love to see the emergence of a viable third party. I hope it happens soon.

They won't emerge until you vote for them, en mass. Get to it.

My vote has been cast for John Kerry, and I just got back from the polls a few minutes ago. The poll lines are MASSIVE here in Racine, Wisconsin, a major swing county. Judging by the turnout and the unusual amount of Kerry supporters I saw, I think Kerry will take Racine county and hopefully the state of Wisconsin.

Voted this morning and spent 30 minutes in line. Usually I spend 2 minutes in line. I think Ohio is going to have a record turnout.
Bush!

We have been inundated with TV and radio ads for months now. Last night I did not see more than 2 ads that were NOT political. I know Florida is a close state and all, but they are just pissing a lot of people off. The endless phone calls, the visits to our homes, the flyers in the mail. There is no escaping it. I hope this time it is a blow out and next time they don't pay us as much attention.

The electronic vote didn't give me the option to write in a candidate.

That’s why whenever people come to my door and ask me if I’m registered to vote I just say no. I don’t particularly like door to door salesmen anyways. Be they selling cookies, candy, vacuum cleaners, religion, sex, politics or whatever. I always like coming up with things that that will get an unusual responses from these people. You should see the looks I get sometimes.

I voted Green for mayor last time around, and I'll vote for them when I can in other local races as well. But not for President, not this time around.

You would have voted for me right?

Oh, they don't ever come back to my house a second time. The Jehovah's Witnesses don't even come back. ;)

They still come to my door, they just don't knock. They leave their pamphlets (damn paper wasters) and run away before I can get to the door.

My parents have kind of solved the problem of people coming to the door and trying to convince them one way or the other by filling the front garden with boards telling people to vote for the Liberal Democrats. They're the most viable third party here in the UK, more so than third parties in the US, but I still wouldn't say the chance of them achieving anything great in the general elections here next year is that great. Tony Blair is unpopluar, but the Conservative opposition (UK equivalent of the Republicans) seem to just be being highly ineffective and swinging further and further right, and I doubt that anyone in the UK would really consider voting for either of the two big parties, unless of course it's to vote for increasingly popular anti-Europe parties  . I predict a low turn out in the UK election next year with Blair getting a third term. And my prediction for the US as an outsider? I have not the faintest idea, but I doubt it'll be decided before the end of the week ;)

I kept one guy talking so much, asking him questions and confounding his answers that eventually his wife pulled the car up and honked the horn. Everytime he tried to leave I challenged him again. The poor guy was caught and could not get away. Finally I let him go.....never saw him or his group in my area again...LOL

Yeah well I just don't like talking to them and want to get them away from me ASAP.

Ah, but clearly by talking to them and scaring them away you're doing a public service and protecting your naighbours as well ;)
