Death of the Electoral College?

Let's imagine (biiiiiiig stretch here) that this election becomes another legal quagmire. Worse yet, the calling of 4 or 5 states are delayed by it all, including both Ohio and Florida. Or evern woese, one of the 169-tie scenarios occours.

Will this be the last election with the Electoral college? Last election I was telling my friendfs that the EC had outlived it's usefulness, with one exception... in a close election, it contained the maddness. Rather then recalls and recounts spreading nationwide, as the parties fought over a half-point lead, everything was centered on only one state, Florida. This time, it i quite possible that containment won't even work anymore, we could have 2 major states and more more minor states (less then 11 EV) caught up.

So, is the Electoral College going to get the constitutional chop if we get into a major quagmire this year?

It would take a constitutional amendment. Seeing as how most of America was against gay marriage, and they couldn't get that one passed, I doubt they could get this one through either.
