Did Jesus come down to earth to abolish the laws of the Old Testement or to prove their significance?

Is it not eastern mysticism?

So should modern Christians be expected to live with the high moral standards of the Old Testement?
or
Are modern Christians only to except Jesus as the supreme Lord and be aloud to do whatever they want?

Christians are still expected to strive to live by God's standards (ie: do not kill, do not commit adultery, etc...). However, now instead of suffering the punishments from the Old Testament, you can ask forgiveness through Jesus Christ, as he paid the price of punishment for all who sin and acknowledge that to be true.

Yes, but are we still judged for our actions or does it matter what we do as long as we believe in Jesus?

I think God tested man when he sent his son. It was a test to see if man would be overly prideful and choose the self rightous path instead of listening to the truth by being humble enough to admit they were wrong in thier understanding of the old testament. The next coming of christ will probably do the same test to the new testament. What will we choose our pride or the truth? Why do we think that we are never wrong with our understanding of the bible? Think about it, isnt it ironic to think that we did this to the son of God for thinking that he spoke against his own fathers word, like we knew better than his son? Sure we didn't believe he was the son of God at that time, thats our own fault for not having true faith. We can say we didn't believe him and all, but how many people are going to be willing to take a chance at being wrong at this again? I think the time to use the words God fearing should come from those that will think they know better than our father and son. Anotherwards will we choose our own truth which is built on assumptions or the truth of God that is absolute?

Yes, you are still judged for your actions, but those actions can be forgiven and you may have a clean slate again if you ask for forgiveness, in a truly humle, remorseful, heartfelt way. You cannot lie to God about anything - not even being sorry - he knows what is in your heart, and if you really feel remorse for your actions. And you can't have the attitude that since Jesus is there to forgive you, then you can do anything you want, because then that's not really a sign of feeling truly remorseful for your actions, is it?
