Killing.

I think it's wrong to kill people. I'm not entertaining an abortion thread here, however. You'll note I used the word 'people' and not the words 'babies', 'fetus', or the phrase, 'unborn people'. Capital punishment would be a related topic, but it's not exactly what I'm talking about either.

Killing is bad. People ending up dead isn't good. However you describe it, I can't get behind denying someone's right to process oxygen.

So it saddens me when I see people armchair quarterback a war, or cheerlead for their side in an armed conflict. It's distressing to read posts that say things like, 'We'll kill all the Terrorists, HAHAHAHA' because...like I said before, killing is...well, wrong. Hell, even the Tencommandments say it's not something thought well of by God, in fact it's downright sinful.

It's also irreversible. If innocent men can be sent to a death chamber after lengthy due process, who's to say if the 'Terrorists' killed on a hillside half the world away are anything other than the shepherds they claim to be?

Well, I know who, and you know who, too. they're called 'courts'. Even if court systems can and have allowed injustices to be occasionally visited upon innocent men, at least they provide a legal framework for determining guilt and meting out punishment. Simply blowing some poor motherfucker away without checking to see if he really was watching over a herd of goats isn't just sloppy work, it's out-and-out criminal behaviour.

I know you're all keyed up down south about Terrorists, but if you don't take moral high road, and have a transparent system for dealing with suspected terrorists that demonstrates to the world that you are BETTER than those you fight, that your sense of justice is more ELEVATED and CIVILIZED, you run the risk of eroding your relationship with other nations, and worse, providing justification to tinpot dictators the world over to further brutalize their own local oppositions (Why can't I round up those opposition party member and have them shot? The Americans don't need the Rule of Law, so why should we? Those people were OPPOSED to my governance, hence they were TERRORISTS!)

See how easy it is? If America thumbs it's collective nose where due process is concerned, there's a lot more at stake than your immediate concerns. And what's at stake are human lives, each one as precious as your very own.

Killing is...wrong. Bad. Not good. Never to be wished, in actuality, upon anyone. If you're comfortable with it, then there isn't anything wrong with the world, but there sure as Hell is something way out of line with you.

And please, let's leave the babies/fetuses/unborn people out of this one. There's ample threads to kick that one back and forth.

I agree almost entirely.
