Well it's official (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=583&ncid=583&e=7&u=/nm/20041101/od_nm/quotes1_dc), Schwartzeneger wants to be president. He said so during a 60 minutes interview. I remember some GOP congressman started the ball rolling with a proposal for a committee or something or other on the day after he was elected Governor of Kalee-for-neeah. He must be the perfect GOP candidate, you don't need a real position or platform, most voters don't know them anyways, he can win on image alone and take direction. I can see it now, OK Arnold, now in this scene you act presidential......

He can win in liberal California because he's a social moderate. He wouldn't have a chance nationally. The hardcore Bush states (Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Georgia, South Carolina, etc) wouldn't stand for him any more than they stood for Clinton. There would be a huge defection to the Constitution or even Democrat nominee across the South and Plains states. Bush had a DUI, big deal. Clinton got a blowjob, big deal. Ahnold had orgies, groped women, and did weed (you can find a video of it on ebaumsworld.com, no kidding). Count the Religious Right (which drives Bush's largest support) out of a potential Ahnold election. I see him doing very well with younger folks, but he doesn't have a chance at the presidency unless Al Sharpton does get the Democratic nomination. :p

You forget the political upheaval that will be caused amongst conservatives if we allow immigrants to become president, I don't think it will fly to well.

However, I'm not to sure I wouldn't vote for Arnold, doesn't seem to be doing a bad job in California.

Lofty goal but zero chance. The States would need to vote 3/4 in favour of changing the constitution to allow someone not born an American to hold any office higher than Secretary of State. Founding Fathers were paranoid some other Nation would hold sway over the office of the President (as opposed to the acceptable capitalisitic practise of oil rich nations just buying the influence lol)

Even if that amendment does pass, I don't think "President Schwartzeneger" has a very good ring to it.
