Elections in Canada

I don't get why elections in other nations take so long. I live in Ontario and in the 2003 provical election they had the results before 9 pm on the same day.And in the federal election of last june the final results were given at 11:30 pm the same day. Why do other states take days or weeks to finish counting ?

Cause we have more than 15 ballots to count? ;)

Cause we have too many lawyers running around challenging everything?

Who knows?

Queensland, it's because we tabulate our handmarked ballots electronically. If you'll recall, election night usually took between four and five hours before a 'projected winner' was announced, and now it only takes between two and three, with the usual one or two ridings still too close to call, or requiring a recount.
