Over two dozen bulky, sweaty men rubbing and jumping on one another inbetween swating each other's rumps...

What's not to love?

You see? As soon as you think about American <shudder> football (which is a different game, actually played with the feet...), you realise its total lack of entertainment potential.

Am I right in saying that a defensive lineman will spend his entire life wrestling with one other type of guy? thats all he does? never touches the ball? Ill accept the quarterback and receivers need some skill, but only doing one thing? How hard can it be, if you happen to be a big strong bloke naturally?

I hate our football with a passion, but in its defense, you really need to work out a lot for football. I'm surprised more football players aren't weightlifters as well.

i accept the physical conditioning thing, but its actual skill, ability, puprpose and talent that needs to be questioned for these DLs. Especially when, as we saw at the last world cup, you have real potential as a proper football nation.

That's because most kids love football (or what we call soccer). Ever heard of a soccer mom? They still exist in suburbia, minus their trademark minivans (they're not SUVs).
Football probably still exists because its easy, yet engaging. Besides, it's become the largest and best organized sport in the US (and arguably the world). I mean, there's the Superbowl, and it's amazing half-time show (except the one last year), and who can pass up the cheerleaders? While detesting that sport, I find those cheerleaders hot!

I think any streak in sports does not hold true including the Redskins one. Just ask a Red Sox fan about that.

Besides, up until 1996, if the Yankees won the series a republican would win. That streak ended in 96.

American football is fantastic. It must really suck to play, but I adore watching it. It's intricate enough that every game is vastly different, but it's simple enough to follow even if you have little clue what the official rules are. There are so many teams, and so much that can happen in a game, that it's amazing to follow. College football is better than pros, but I love both.

Jokes about sweaty guys wrestling each other are all fine and well, and of course you don't have to like the sport if you don't like it, but it just shows that you've never taken the game seriously or given it a chance. I used to dislike football, but that's because I knew nothing about it, and didn't have any kind of stake in any team. Now it's the only sport I follow with any regularity... it's just fantastic.

Now, about the topic, I don't believe this guaruntees a Kerry win, of course. But it is a happy sign :)

I never thought I'd see the day, but it happened. I was having a nap and just woke up and the first thing I said to my husband was "Who won the game!" I hate football.. but if 17 elections have been predicted corrertly by the loss of the Red Skins.. Then I had to know.. Good-Bye Bushie!

I'm so happy! :D

If this holds true and if Kerry does win the election, then I will still riot, but I will riot out of happiness! Also this is starting to be backed up by the polls

I watched "Meet The Press" this morning and Kerry could win by a lot more then that. Don't forget that the Democrats have had a much better ground registration campaign.. some thing like 3-1 in favour of the Democrats.. all those kids haven't been polled, can't poll people with cell phones. Most of those kids on college campus only have cell phones. Basically the wisdom here is agreed by three different pollsters is the more people who show up, the better and better Kerry's chances are and it's looking like it's going to be a record turn out.

The polls don't even favour Bush in Florida as of today! Kerry is expected to win Ohio and PA with Florida, he wins hands down. :)

The point is it would appear the odds are in Kerry's favour. Does this mean 100% for sure Kerry will win? No, of course not. But it sure increases the odds.

I think I was right when I said that the Red Sox screwed up all past precedents in sports. So long as the fucking Cubs don't win the World Series and my White Sox win next year I'll be happy.

Minus Maggs it isn't too likely. OOO-EEE-OOO Maggs is gone

We'll win next year if we sign a new SP to replace Jon "Judy" Garland Will Uncle Jerry give me a birthday present and please sign Carl Pavano or if he isn't available Matt Clement.
