Isn't it fascinating that all of the Old Testament prophets and the New Testament apostles and even the very person 2 billion people look to as their personal saviour (Jesus) all have Ganser Syndrome?
I find that hilarious.
People often ask, "What would Jesus do?" I wonder how he'd respond to a TAT.

It would probably be alot more fascinating for all us non-psychology dolts what Ganser syndrome is.
not to mention that many of the pivotal individuals in religious history seem to have been experiencing temporal lobe epilepsy. for instance, Saul/Paul's miraculous conversion experience is a textbook description of a seizure, even including the after effects.

Oh .... erm ...
Ganser's Syndrome is a factitious disorder, characterised by the individual mimicking behaviour they think are typical of a psychosis, by providing nonsensical or wrong answers to questions, and doing things incorrectly. The answers given, however, are usually so close to the question as to reveal that the patient has understood the question. Also called nonsense syndrome, balderdash syndrome, syndrome of approximate answers, pseudodementia or prison psychosis ( The syndrome is described most frequently in prison inmates form whom it may represent an attempt to gain leniency from prison or court officials ), classified in DSM-IV as one of the dissociative disorders. People with Ganser Syndrome have short-term episodes of odd behavior similar to that shown by people with serious mental illnesses. Diagnosing Ganser syndrome is very challenging, not only because some measure of dishonesty is involved but also because it is very rare, however the main characteristic of the syndrome are:
- The person may appear confused and make absurd statements, or approximate answers, in which the person gives nonsense answers to simple questions.
- Report hallucinations.
- Intentional production of physical or psychological symptoms.
- The patient's motivation is to assume the sick role.
- External motives (such as financial gain) are absent.

And Jesus had this?
Yes. Clearly.

Yes. Clearly.
How did you diagnose him?
They didn't necessarily have Gansers. Giving approximate answers was a part of religious tradition. It allowed people to answer difficult questions that they had no clue about without seeming ignorant, which might have dismayed followers. But certainly it seems possible.
I find it more likely Jesus had Gansers than his followers. And extremely likely that Paul/Saul was subject to seizures. But yah, how would you diagnose someone from the past?

How did you diagnose him?
Read the NT ... it's all there.

Yeah, but that's not really a diagnosis. Those aren't really his words. And how can you tell he's got Ganser's and isn't faking being a lunatic? From your description, it seems like there's a fine line between Ganser's and just pretending to garner sympathy.
