while you guys are still here bitching and moaning over various political problems of the world. sick over the prospects of the WRONG person winning the US presidential election. in despair over the thought that some gay guys might some day get married legally.....
ill be in ARUBA, lying in the sun, drinking an obscene amount of alcohol, playing poker all night, drooling over handsome men with dutch or venezuelan accents.

wondering where aruba IS?
heres a map
http://aruba.cchm.ca/Aruba.gif
its very much NOT to scale, aruba is 80 miles off the northern coast of venezuela. *smack* venezuela is in south america.
Sounds nice. I might be going to Vietnam or India next year.

If I weighed under 70 lbs. I'd have more pressing concerns than the cold weather.
Heh. Now I thought about this some more...
It was 30something degrees (celsius) here today. Thats around 100 in your backwards system.
Ashmoria, I can lie in the sun (on the beach, naturally) and drink an obscene amount of alcohol almost every day until about March now.
Suckers. :D

It's true. 57 degrees F would be considered a really cold day (colder at night, obviously). And I live in a fairly cold state, by comparison :) Would you believe i've never seen snow in my life?

57 Fahrenheit? I'd kill for that now!

Yep. :)
70-105 degrees F would be the normal range for summer.

Thats true. It's only a couple of hours drive from where I live, but i've never been. There wouldn't be much there this time of year, though. Maybe next winter i'll go check it out.

don't bother... it's just white and wet and cold. especially the third one. looks so much better on pictures, when you're someplace warm and can point at all the people in their funny clothing...

I don't know...I think the first good snowfall of the season is the most serene and beautiful sight ever. Before it's spoiled by 10 trillion tons of sand.

lol. I guess. But then again, you've grown up with it, so it's nothing special for you. It would be interesting just once at least, I think.
(Though actually, its interesting to note that the skifields on those mountains are heavily dependent on artificial snow...So even so, that gives you an idea that even in the mountain regions its just barely cold enough to support it)

For the roads. What do you use?

no snow is great but you really have to try a place where they get lots.
the moon shining on the snow can make it as bright as dusk in the middle of the night. the "whole world" is transformed into something beautiful by a thick coat of snow.
ill try to think of that when im leaving the casino at 2am and its 80 degrees out.

Yep, and considering that these mountains are the only ones with snow in Australia (to my knowledge...there might be some in New South Wales as well), they're pretty touristy. Though its not expensive to travel to New Zealand and check out some real snow.

oh, sorry. we use salt (i know its bad for the streets, but it works so well) and gravel.

Haha, thats what it's like here now. Except later.

yes. very romantic. and then you have to get up at 7 the next morning and slide your way to the busstation, still half-asleep and half-frozen, then you're squished in the bus between other poor souls that have to go to work, wearing heavy coats and jackets, and of course it's way too hot inside the bus to wear a coat, a scarf, gloves, hat, etc, but there are too many people in there for you to be able to take off any of that. then when you finally get to your station you get out of the bus, sweating like mad, but it's cold again. and everything is white and slippery (because that early in the morning, they haven't gotten around to salt the sidewalks)... and ....
sigh...i can't wait for all of that ;)
Goddamn. I'll remember you next time i'm shivering at the train station (In temperatures that you would consider warm ;)) during winter.
Anyway...bedtime :)
