You know in the 2000 elections, with all the mess that was going on. I was suprised that no riots broke out, so this time will riots break out as they make another mess out of this?

No, because it is only a small minority of either party that is irrational enough to riot.

we american's understand that rioting is not the answer (unless American Football is involved, then it solves everything)
I dont really expect a riot, but if there is one, hell I'm there.

I hear ya man! Heck I might just try to get one started in my hometown just to have something to do!
In America, if your favorite team wins or loses an important game, it is not only legal to riot, but encouraged.

Riots? I hope so. :D
I love a good riot. Doesn't even matter why it's happening, starting fights at peaceful and non-peaceful demonstrations is an old hobby of mine. The good news is, all indicators point to a Bush win, so I can go ape without any conflict of interest this time. ;)

It's funny to see them climbing the goalposts. That just seems like it would be really fun.

Except the last part where it fell down.
Yes. I'll be surprised if it isn't the second Civil War.
But no matter how much rioting/warfare goes on, they will be quelled. After all, there are about seven Republicans that would resort to that, and the Democrats don't have the support of the NRA or the military. The violence will be short-lived.

I know, I go to Ohio State, can't wait until the Michigan game, that's gonna be a sweet night, no matter who wins. (And it's even here in columbus this year!)
If Bush refuses to step down after Kerry wins we will find many liberal Democrats becoming believers in the 2nd Amendment.
But the Conservatives who already believe in it will have the upper hand, what with the factor of familiarity of what is involved.

dude, just so you do realize, if kerry wins, there is no doubt Bush will step down. There is not going to be any violence. I know that many leftists envision a glorious revolution but IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! WE DON'T HAVE ANY FOOTBALL GAMES ON TUESDAY NIGHT!
The Libs will be pissed and will start fighting the government and the Conservatives. But the Libs don't have the support of the military, who will be used to quell the uprising. And the NRA will volunteer on the side of the government, preventing further violence through superior firepower.
Or not. We'll see soon.
Funny how the liberals portray bush as a OMFG EVIL MAN DICTATOR HITLER!!!!11 OMGGGGGGGGGG. Kind of sad really. If you don't like his opinions don't vote for him, it's as simple at that.

I voted for Bush, but i am a critic of parts of his administration. If jackbooted thugs start roaming the streets (which they won't) then I'll introduce their faces to a baseball bat.

Its basically a right to form a well organized militia and that militia shall have the right to bare arms. But some people like to ignore the first part and twist it into the right to bare arms.

The 2nd Amendment is the right of the citizens of the United States to own firearms. Most citizens use this right.

Then they should become Republicans and join the "dark" side ;)
People don't need a reason to riot. Besides, I think it's everyones secret wish to be shot by the police.
Are you kidding? If Bush wins (which is incredibly unlikely) I'll be leading the riots! Oops. I probably shouldn't have said that. John Ashcroft is probably watching... Hey there John!

Had a laugh at the choice, "No people are civilized."
Some are, just not as many as one would hope.
Depends on what happens with the election. If it is clear and quickly decided then everything should be fine. If there is another situation like in Florida in 2000, then I wouldn't be shocked if there was rioting or worse.

And some people ignore the fact that for a militia to have arms it must have access to guns.

MADISON, Wis. -- Madison homeowners are livid after vandals defaced their homes.
Someone burned an 8-foot-by-8-foot Nazi swastika on a home's lawn near where Bush-Cheney signs were posted. The vandals used grass killer to spray the symbol.
Several nearby homes were vandalized -- all were within a two-block radius on the West Side, near Ice Age Trail, News 3 reported.
State Republican Party officials claim it's the latest in a series of desperate acts by Democrats.
Homeowners are angry, but resolute in what they plan to do next.
"I just cannot believe that someone would take the liberty to do this," said homeowner Rob Schaeffer. "We're appalled that someone would choose to destroy our property because they don't believe in our political views. My signs are going right back in the yard. This is my property. We live here. We have rights."
Police are investigating the criminal damage and told the homeowner it will be investigated as a hate crime, which carries stiffer penalties.
-------------------------------------------
CLIMATE OF FEAR UPDATE: I dropped by the bullet-riddled Bush-Cheney HQ mentioned below on my way home from work. It wasn't bullet-riddled anymore, as the shot-out window panes had been removed. Nor, I have to say, was there much of a climate of fear in evidence, as the place seemed pretty crowded with people picking up Bush-Cheney signs and bumperstickers, children in tow.
This being East Tennessee, of course, I suppose that many of them were armed, which no doubt bolstered their courage. (Best line from one of the campaign HQ staff, which I heard secondhand from the news director of a local TV station: "We support their right to have a gun, just not their right to use it in that fashion.") [LATER: I misunderstood -- this was a joke, and no one at the Republican HQ actually said that. Sorry; my mistake.] There was also a substantial media presence, suggesting that this whole effort is likely to backfire, as it should. More here via USA Today.
Perhaps tonight someone should ask John Edwards how he feels about such violent behavior.
UPDATE: More violence here: "ORLANDO, Fla. -- A group of protestors stormed and then ransacked a Bush-Cheney headquarters building in Orlando, Fla., Tuesday, according to Local 6 News. . . . Local 6 News learned that most of the protestors were from the AFL-CIO and were taking part in one of 20 other coordinated protests around the country."
ANOTHER UPDATE: These peace movement folks seem happy with the drive-by Bush HQ shooting.
Patterico "Does anyone have any doubt, any doubt at all, that if it were a Democratic campaign office that was attacked, it would be all over the news? That it very likely would have been the topic of a question at tonight's debate?"
I don't know, but here's more violence in Wisconsin: "More than 50 demonstrators supporting Democrat presidential candidate John Kerry stormed a Republican campaign office in West Allis at mid-day today."
