I never wash my face I've never had a serious problem with acne. Only a few scatterred pimples from time to time.

Grab a Cz-52, load it with one bullet, and decide which location would be better...Head, or heart...

If you're dead, you cant get acne.

I once saw a dermatologist swear blind that using scotch tape to take the oil and dead skin off your face once a day worked better than most cream he was able to prescribe.

Apparently he wasn't supposed to tell his patients this because he wasn't making money out of them if he did.

Sometimes it is genetic and there is very little you can do to prevent it. The medications doctors give out will help some if this is the case. Other than that, wait until you grow out of it.

And also, I also want to know how to get rid of existing acne, not only how to prevent it.

Wash your face with soap every morning and evening, even when they aren't there. You should use a special soap normally, but an ordinary one will do if you cannot find the good one.

Edit: It should prevent new ones and help you with the existing ones. And do not touch your face with dirty hands, and they are dirty if you have not washed them recently. ;)

I use Neutrogena Acne Wash every day or every other day, and it keeps it under control. I have pretty bad acne, because if I go longer than 3 days or so, it starts getting to be a huge problem, not only cosmetically, but it's painful.

What I have figured to be the most usful tip is to cut certain things out of your diet.

Don't eat chocolate and chips in excess. The saturated fat content is what usually causes pimple growth.

If all else fail just do this :headbang: . Nobody will be looking at your pimples then.

Take the pills. If they're Acutaine (or Acutane, or however you spell it), you won't find anything better or faster on the market. 3 months treatment is enough for most people, and you'll never have acne again as long as you live. I'm entirely serious. A guy I know was part of the initial test group in the '70's, who was totally disfigured by acne and has not one scar today... Acutane's still the best today, and I've seen a half dozen horrible cases cured by it in 3-4 months.

It gets worse before it gets better, though, so be warned. The first few weeks are worse, when the medication purges your sabaceous glands. You'll probably have bad dry skin during that time. 4 weeks in, you'll be back to where you are now, and every day after that you'll see it disappear until it's gone. This is my experience, of course, and may or may not be typical. Also, you'll need to have bloodwork done every week or so to watch for sideeffects, and it can be kinda expensive depending on your policy. If the pills are an option though: do it. ;)

Edit: the pills are for serious cases; if your case is minor, it's probably not worth the cost.

If you go on Roacutane be careful- it really dries your skin. You'll eed sunscreen and stuff. I'd try some antibiotics first though.

And if you were a girl I'd say go on the oral contraceptive pill! It clears you skin and leaves it really soft.
JRV
30-10-2004, 06:50
Yeah, just go see your doctor and try the anti-biotics first. Though Roacutane is effective, it can have some unpleasant side-effects, so read up on it before you try it out.
Poo Man

Well, I don't think my friends are taking anything like Accutane, I think they're just taking over-the-counter pills.

And it's just insane, I'll get one zit and then I'll barely touch it and all of a sudden a huge quarter size portion of my face is red and it takes almost a week to heal, and in that time, if I so much as just scratch the skin in that area it will start to bleed and will take like another week to heal.

I mean, it's not that bad, but that's the only way I can describe it. I just want to get rid of what I have on my face right now and never get it again.

But that's the problem, I'll squeeze and I'll get it, but it's like I don't get it all even though a lot comes out, and it will fill with liquid and still be the same size if not bigger.

Or other times, it won't pop at all and all I do is tear up the skin around it, causing me much embarassment for having a huge red mark on my face that will be there for a week.

Don’t squeeze it, that will only make scarring more prominent and push some of the puss down further. Instead of using your fingers to pinch, use them to spread. You’ll get less scarring that way. But still it’s best to leave them alone.

Use my fingers like this then?

Way I have been using them:

-> Z <- (Where Z is the zit and the ->/<- are my fingers.)

Way I'm interpreting I need to:

<- Z ->

As in I should be pulling the skin away from the zit?

Yep, usually works. If it doesn't right away you can put a hot wash cloth over your face to help open the pores up. If that doesn't work, wait a while longer.

okay, everyone on this thread is apparently crazy. acne is caused by bacteria beneath the skin. by touching your face, you are putting more bacteria on your face (your hands carry more germs than you can count). so, first off, don't touch!

next, go to a dermatologist. there are different types of acne and only they can tell you what option is best for you.

in the mean time, use a cleanser with salicylic acid and a facial scrub with benzoyl peroxide. avoid using too many (or mixing and matching) different creams and gels, overdrying the skin can cause dead skin cells to get trapped beneath the skin, exacerbating the problem.

don't moisterize trouble areas, and use a toner on areas that get extra oily.

though it has not been medically proven, i believe some people have trigger foods that cause breakouts. avoid oily foods, chocolate, and dairy if you believe that you are one of these people. exercise and eat well, it creates an all-over healthy you, including your skin.

i hope this helped

I've found that drinking a tea made out of crushed aniseseeds twice a day works very well if your problem is a sensitivity to oily foods, or just naturally oily skin. A teaspoon in a mug of hot water simmer for 10 minutes. That and changing your pillow case more often, and not resting your head in your hands.

If your problem is skin that's sensitive to irritation then you should try aloe.

Antibiotics tend to work quite well, but it will start to lose effect after 2 years or so. I'm on roacutane myself now, and it's terrific; but it is especially hard on your lips and eyes, they get extremely dry, so wearing contact lenses might be a problem (if you have them).
