Here is a site which contains many pictures not usually shown in the media. It is usually perceived that there is a general bad opinion of America in Iraq, but here we can see many people embracing the US troops and being happy about the freedom they now have.

I'm sure I could create a collection of pictures of happy people in Haiti too. Does that mean things are going well? No.

Smiling Iraqid are a sight for sore eyes indeed.
(How old are these pictures?)

Let's release the money already appropriated for rebuilding Iraq's power and water supply, hospitals, schools, and communications. Then we'd see many more smiles!

Oh I forgot, Bush says that's not his priority.

This poll was from April of this year, but it suggests that "general bad opinion of Americans in Iraq" is the real deal.

"Except for the Kurds, such feelings are widely held. For example:

Two-thirds say soldiers in the U.S.-led coalition make no attempt to keep ordinary Iraqis from being killed or wounded during exchanges of gunfire.

58% say the soldiers conduct themselves badly or very badly.

60% say the troops show disrespect for Iraqi people in searches of their homes, and 42% say U.S. forces have shown disrespect toward mosques.

46% say the soldiers show a lack of respect for Iraqi women.

Only 11% of Iraqis say coalition forces are trying hard to restore basic services such as electricity and clean drinking water."

Perhaps there are more recent polls that are similar.

Things that are apparently low on Bush's priority list:

Osama bin Laden

Rebuilding Iraq

International treaties

Poverty/hunger in America

Nuclear capability of N Korea and Iran

Securing non-WMD explosives

Things that are of high priority:

Non-existant WMD's

Corporate pork

Iraq oil/Oil Ministry

Iraq is a fairly large country.

There are plenty of people who are fine with the occupation, and plenty of people who aren't.

To try to generalize from a few pictures is a bad idea.

I think the point is;

the media is focusing on everything soldiers are doing wrong

http://www.thememoryhole.org/war/iraqis_tortured/iraqis_tortured_abc-a.jpg

the media only shows scenes of hatred

http://www.thememoryhole.org/war/fallujah_31mar04/fallujah_31mar04-ap1.jpg

Are you going to believe the media doesn't influence your thinking?

this is stuff the media doesn't show:

Read Dementate's post.

You don't like what we've done to those people, so you're in denial, blaming the messenger.

Cheery little pictures of Iraqi children laughing and hugging soldiers doesn't make good news.

Nah, pyramids of naked humans makes much better news.

boy, thats just stupid.
"Iraqis are so happy, we brought them freedom and only killed there families and even arrested their childs in this funny building called Abu Ghreib. THEY SHOULD BE THANKFUL!!!!1111oneoneone...."

See the point? You americans have done the fucking most wrong you ever could do in Iraq. You freed the people, but don´t rebuilded the country.
And its not only Iraq, whith so many people hating America now. Its the whole world. If you just even give anything more then a fuck to what other countrys think of you, then you shouldn´t reelect Bush.

I know exactly what I would have done were I the US president when I heard about the attacks. Jumped inside the deepest, safest bunker in the world.

I dunno man. Protect the country, or...well, hell, it's a gripping story. I can see why he was so into it :D

Well it's interesting.

However, I do remember seeing Russian pictures showing the same thing in Afghanistan.

Propaganda covers both good and bad.

Of course. He should have just ripped off his clothes to reveal his Captain America uniform, and gone to stop jets with his bare hands, shouting "Avengers, Assemble!"... Wanna say how the man ought to protect the country? Just use the sheer power of his will (don't laugh, don't laugh, don't laugh) to stop aircraft in flight? Declare war on commercial aircraft? What?
