Super Bowl Predictions!

To break from all the political topics...

Who do you think will win Superbowl XXXIX?

And as a side topic...does anyone play fantasy sports? I'm the commissioner of a Fantasy Football team at my workplace. Last year I made it all the way to championship game (and lost). This year, my team is a lowly 2-5 right now, but fortunately I'm in a weak division and still have a good shot at the playoffs.

I predict there won't be one due to excessive feces on the field.

I know it's an odd prediction, but the future will reveal the truth of it. *nod*

New England will win by less than a touchdown. Doesn't matter who they play, 'cause it's the Year of The Chowd!!!

Don’t worry about it. You left me a way into your computer. Now I know where you live.

I just don’t know whether to do a drive by mud toss or a drive by groin kick. Choices, choices. :(

I almost fell for your trap. This is where I'm supposed to say my classic line; 'Can't it be both?'. But I won't. ;)

The Patriots and the Eagles both play the Steelers over the next two weeks - Patriots this week, Eagles next week. If either team can commandingly win while the other struggles against the Steelers, the team that commandingly wins has a slight edge in the Super Bowl (discounting the possibility of an upset; the Patriots and the Eagles are looking like runaway favorites right now, but there's a lot of football left to play). If both of them play it close, then neither gets a boost, even if one wins and one loses - a close game means playing roughly the same level. I give the nod to the Patriots by a slim margin, due to their astounding streak, the Sox winning the series and proving it's a good-karma year in New England, and to a Patriots defense that is once again demonstrating that yards per game are much less relevant than points allowed per game, being middle-of-the-pack on the first stat and near the lead in the other.

To put it another way, unless one team blows out the Steelers and the other struggles, I make the Super Bowl close enough that one good lucky break (a bad call, a bad bounce on a kickoff, an injury, whatever) could decide who wins. If either team loses its starting quarterback, they drop from the Super Bowl front-runner status; neither team has a backup of the same caliber as their starter.

Patriots will be down by less than a field goal with under a minute to go when Adam Viniteri kicks a 48-yard field goal to win it in a monumentous fashion. Can it be any other way?

I predict that I'll go to a friends house, they'll all care and I won't, I'll get bored, play with fireworks, and blow something up.

Predict: Will I be arrested this time? :D
