Does Max have a nation? I would assume thast he does. I mean, if I created a game, I would play it. Is his nation the "first" nation?
I just bought "Jennifer Government" yesterday and I think its awsome!

I just realized that this is probally not the best forum for this thread. Could a mod please move it to a more appropriate forum? Thanks!

The oldest nation is Thomasia, at 4.13 billion, but that is neither Max nor the biggest nation. (Biggest is Praetor at 4.9 billion.)

He had a nation at one point, "Maxtopia" (go figure), but it no longer exists.

On the old forums, we had a memberlist you could sort through by date joined (on these new ones we're stuck with all the jolt people who joined ages before us, and it's kind of a mess), and Thomasia was the oldest on that list (there were older, but they were forum accounts which had somehow survived even though their nations were long gone). Since he's still around, that hasn't changed. There is occasionally a UN report of "biggest nations" and Praetor was first in the world last time it came along.

That's not true! The owner let it die, and so the real oldest nation is Thomasia.

There are several factors. Most likely, Praetor was hit with the population bug, and Thomasia was not. Or perhaps Praetor was hit harder than Thomasia. Another reason could be that Praetor receives more issues than Thomasia, for example, during the first month of play, Thomasia only received one issue per day and Praetor received two. (Issues make you grow.) Or perhaps Thomasia goes on vacation more often than Praetor. As I said, several factors. And note, the population bug was a glitch that caused a nation to receive more issues per day than normal, and since issues make you grow, the naiton grew faster.

Lol, we need forum 7 back for this kinda stuff....Yeah! Bring back Forum 7. The Jolt Spam forum just doesn't cut it.

Another reason could be that Praetor receives more issues than Thomasia, for example, during the first month of play, Thomasia only received one issue per day and Praetor received two. (Issues make you grow.)My understanding is that issues do not effect population growth. There was a population bug, or if the older nation ceased to be for a while, I believe, are the only reasons why an older nation would have a smaller population.

First, that could be a factor. Thomasia could have ceased to exist, and then been revived through Lazarus.

Second, I may be mistaken, can someone clear this up for me? Do issues make your population grow?

Nah-ah! Last Hope was created before Thomasia! Just because the owner let it die doesn't change that fact.

Here (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=369654) are the official rules regarding the relation between issues and population. Turns out there are none! My bad, but just to be clear, issues have no effect whatsoever on population growth.

I'm sure Max created a nation to RP with a few months after the game began so no one would know it was his. As far as I know, I could be allies with or enemies with Max in the RP world.

And as for the disparity in population, yeah, Praetor caught the pop bug big time, and Thomasia never did.

Then I bragged too much about it and some mod killed off 3-400 million people in Crimmond. Grr...

You rang?

For the record, I never had the population bug, and I neglect my nation greatly. Most of my work is separate from here, in the Meritocracy.

However, I am the oldest continuously existing nation. Resurrecting your nation is cheating, in my mind. Plus, I joined the game on day three.

The populkation bug sounds good, I wish either I'd been here when all the issues kept happening (they did have an effect on the infected users' nations, didn't they?) or I could get it now.

This March 2003 nation has been resurrected twice. However, I don't really judge nations on creation dates. The best nation ever in NationStates could be a January 2005. No one would know until hindsight.
