I am so fed up of the constant abuse being hurled back and forth from Americans to Brits and Brits to Americans, please stop it!

Our countries may disagree on certain issues. Britain is largely secular, while in America, religion is a crucial factor in determining government policy. America is far more enterprising and dynamic in terms of industry with a good sense of laissez-faire but Britain is a place with a much smaller gap between rich and poor and with a much more proficient and ( I would say) much fairer taxation and welfare system.

But the people of our two nations also share the same common values. A belief in the fact that democracy is the best form of government even if sometimes domestically certain players do undermine our systems. A belief in taking a center-stage and in looking to improve the rest of the world especially in Africa, where it is the United Nations and the rest of the world that is letting down the people of Dafur for example not us.

These things in my opinion far outweigh whatever differences there are between us. We must not allow prejudice and mistrust to ruin what is undeniably the main force for good in the world.

Although some of my previous messages may convince you otherwise, I supported a war in Iraq. My problem was with the deception and misrepresentation of the facts that occured prior to it and I lay that squarely at the feet of Tony Blair a man who even if he is right in what he is doing, is too weak to avoid trying to take the whole country with him (which will never happen) and so he exagerrated certain facts. The action was justified, but the manner in which it was undertaken is the reason for all the difficulty that we now face. Iraq was never going to be easy to democratise, all thoughts to the contrary were pure illusions. it is a country that has never had a democratic state, which is partly the fault of us British during the 1920s I am ashamed to say.

But we must hold the course because the Anglo-American alliance whatever its faults is the finest relationship between two fully separate states in world history and should be supported by all citizens of both countries, that are undeiably the two finest in the world. Those who say that we are corrupt, take a look across the channel at Jaques Chirac in France, who is only in power and out of jail because the alternative was a right wing extremist who opposes the liberation of women, wants to 'purify' homosexuals and expel all citizens of france who have foreign blood in them.

So people, keep the peace. Despite the strains, it is fundamental to the future of the world, that this alliance maintains.

Thanks for reading.

Well I agree that Britain and the US should maintian friendly realtions. I think the US should maintian friendly relations with everyone.

But I also think it is time for the US to exit the stage as a major world player. It's reputation is just to bad these days to function effectively. Of course we have to finish Iraq, but after that is over, the US should withdraw all of its armed forces, downsizes its military for defensive only purposes and cease intervening in the rest of the world's business.

We should let other regions of the world choose for themselves how best to handle their problems.
