A thread dedicated to the issues, politics, environment and culture of the San Francisco area. Also, where are all the hot chicks around here?

Hope to talk to ya soon.

All the hot chicks are on Polk Street, by the Embarcadero. Have a good time.

Or down here in Santa Cruz. But I have a thing for brainy hippie chicks...so...of course, since I call them 'chicks' I get nothin'......

Yeah, I love brainy hippy..er...womyn (is that the ultimate PC term these days?) I also love the "naughty librarian" type. The semi-vulgar "one of the guys" type of girl who also happens to be really hot is excellent as well.

Munkebrain, stop trolling. Leave that for the political threads.

We have similar tastes. You could hang out at City Lights book store (Geary and Broadway) and get all the poet-ey chicks. The arty chicks are kinda a different bag, though. I own a Playstation, so I'm automatically on the outs with them.

lol... I was happy seeing a SF thread.

Until I read you were looking for chicks.

Hon... shut down the computer (although not now, it's a little late), and go outside. And if you want the brainy chicks, go try hanging around Berkeley. Or go to grad school parties. :D

A buddy of mine scored a trifecta, an arty chick who liked video games before she met him who was hippish without being a 'spinner' (you know, those chicks that spin in place at Dead shows and jam band concerts and make up their own spirituality)

Lucky bastard.....(I wouldn't date her myself, but the principle is envyable)

I had a friend that was also a bit of a 'too good to be true.' She was a folk guitar playing, opera trained singer who loved scavanging and working on VWs. Dude she married doesn't know how good he has it.....(well, he probably does, in all honesty-he is a nice guy....)

You could talk about enviroment politics or culture. I've pretty much taped my well as far as women go.

I thought the whole point of living in san fran was that you could meet lots of cute gay men. Whats all this talk of girl hunting then?

You've taken my tongue-in-cheek post too seriously. This thread is for all things SF Bay area. The first topic just happened to be the fairer sex.

Bring a topic of your own, instead of tearing down those that are already running!

Don't get your tourist information from hacky stand up comedy.

Okay, who's going to the Castro for Halloween? :)

Okay, who's going to the Castro for Halloween? :)In twelve years I've never done that. How sad is that?

I did go to the Embarcadaro for New Years 2000, but thats because I was hoping there would be riots and stuff....(I don't know why, since California was one of the last places to go through the change and nothing had happened anywhere else in the world....of course, it's not real until it happens to me, apparently....

I have been to SF actually. Quite a nice place to be honest and not very gay at all. I was staying with a friend in silicon valley or some hellish suburb in that general area so it took me an hour to get to anywhere nice.

:D Gotta see it to believe it, huh?

Oh, and as a former Washingtonian, why can't Californians drive in the rain? :p It was rainy/windy and the Bay Area exploded (literally :D)

We get tourists and commuters from the outside.

And, aparantly(sp) we have attention spans that are just under 3 months, so people completely forget that water falls from the sky.

I drive a '67 Bus, so the rain doesn't really change how I drive much-slow dry, slow wet.

Sounds like Fremont....end of the BART line, geographically huge and abnormally flat for the Bay Area. Kinda dead outdoor mall. MC Hammer's old house...

I've got to get over to Santa Cruz more often. San Jose itself can be rather dull.

I gotta be honest, I really hate San Jose-too much like Sacramento where I grew up (Folsom to be exact). Santa Cruz rocks, but you have to live here to really groove with it. Tourists get The Boardwalk and all the beaches on the west side. The east side is for locals. (I live on the west side unfortunately)

I was living in the south bay up to 'bout six months ago. Lousy place to find women. It was a pretty good place to live in to get to good moutain biking spots. I'm in the east bay now. Lots more women. Less selection for moutain biking spots.

South bay reminds me of LA. I really hate LA.

I regard SoCal as the shallow end of the pool. I was in the East Bay for @10 years before I moved to Santa Cruz. I like it here a lot better, but will likely move back to the bay area in a year or two to get a job.

One of the few benifits of living in the south bay was that it's fairly easy to make a day trip to hang out in Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz PWNS.

I suggest a group of us get together for a Nationstates post-Kerry victory party. Either that or a post-Bush drown our sorrows party. Santa Cruz sounds good to me.

If Bush wins I don't know that being down here would be such a good thing. I don't know if you've seen 10,000 angry hippies.........

But if he wins-happy hippies are very generous....

*Sigh*

I love San Francisco. Of course, my only experience from that city is as a tourist from Montreal, but in my short time there, I gained an appreciation for that city that is unparalleled to any other city I've visited in the United States.

Chinatown was fanatastic. I can still remember this pastry shop I visited that proudly displayed pictures of a visiting President Clinton. The sweets I bought there are still dancing around in my memory, and to my utmost annoyance, I am unable to find a similar shop here at home.

Anyway, I envy those of you who live in San Francisco. Maybe I'll join you one day.

Most have moved more inland, to places like Antioch, Walnut Creek, Pleasanton and Castro Valley. It also helps that it's (a little) cheaper to live in those areas, and BART still goes to them,

Don't know anything about the Law School, but it's a gorgeous campus, and the school in general has a good rep. I went to a reading there last year--Amy Quan Barry read from her new book of poems. Made me want to try to get a job there. :D

Sound good to me too. Too bad I have to be at work at 7:00 a.m. the next day, win lose or draw. Good thing I work at a brewery, so I can keep the celebration/mourning going on someone else's dime. :D

I'm going to try to visit it in Jan, their stats look good (average LSAT/GPAs, percent accepted, tuition&fees, rankings) but on its own, that does not a great school make.

It'll be a hell of a change from Oklahoma, that's for certain, and it's expensive as well, both the school and the city. I lived in Fayetteville AR for four years, so I have an idea of what you're coming from. But if you want to live in a vibrant and fascinating city, there's nowhere like it in the world.

I lived in a DC suburb for a while (though I was too young to remember it well), but the city I grew up in is only about half a million - a very good size, in my opinion. That city has a law school I could reasonably afford, but, well, again, I don't want to be stuck there the rest of my life, and it doesn't have any prestige you can count on to go elsewhere.

I would love to get a degree from a Cali school in general, more than any specific Cali school, and not out of a particular desire to practice there the rest of my life. I'm aiming for a JD that will give me a lot of flexibility and options to go pretty much anywhere, and I'm looking at schools in Cali or Virginia to that end...

Anyway, I'm only a sophomore in undergrad, but so far I have the numbers to attend most of these schools (not the money, but I'd have to borrow a lot no matter where I went...). I'll visit several schools in Cali in January, and well, if I really don't like them, that'd certainly be that.
